FosterLog – Diary app for foster carers

FosterLog – Diary app for foster carers

As foster carers ourselves, we know how quickly important information can end up scattered across notebooks, calendars, messages and separate documents.

We wanted a simpler way to keep daily care records organised, easy to find, and ready when they are needed. That is why we created FosterLog.

FosterLog gives foster carers one place to record daily notes, observations, incidents, achievements, school updates, health information, appointments and family time for each child.

Features include:
• Separate profiles for each child
• Quick, categorised diary entries
• Searchable records
• Weekly and monthly reports
• PDF export
• Records stored locally on your device
• No adverts

FosterLog is available now on Android, play store

We would genuinely value feedback and feature suggestions from other foster carers.

Built an Android app to help foster carers/parents keep records organised

Hi everyone,

After seeing how much paperwork and record keeping comes with fostering, FosterLog was created to make it easier to keep everything organised in one place.

FosterLog is an Android app designed specifically for foster carers and foster parents, with features including:

• Child profiles
• Daily logs and observations
• Incident recording
• Health and education records
• Contact information
• Appointments
• Report generation
• Fast search
• Offline storage, so your data stays on your device

The app has recently been updated to Version 1.1 with a number of usability improvements, and development is continuing based on feedback from carers.

If anyone would like to take a look, provide feedback or suggest features that would genuinely help with day-to-day fostering, it would be greatly appreciated.

Has anyone else had their Local Authority (in uk) refuse ADHD medication?

I’m just wondering if anyone else has been through something similar.

One of our foster children has significant ADHD traits, while FASD is also being considered because of their wider developmental needs.

Around two years ago, the doctors recommended starting ADHD medication, as they felt it was the right next step.
Despite that recommendation, our Local Authority hasn’t given consent, so two years later the medication still hasn’t been started.

It’s been a frustrating process because we’re trying to do what’s best for the child and follow the medical advice we’ve been given, but we seem to have reached a bit of a dead end.

I’m not looking to debate ADHD medication or criticise anyone. I’m genuinely interested to know whether other UK foster carers have experienced something similar.
Has your Local Authority ever refused or delayed consent for medication?

If so, what reasons were you given?
Were you able to challenge the decision?
Did it eventually get resolved?
I’d be really interested to hear how other people have dealt with this.
