Need advice on a major Data Privacy / HR issue
Hi everyone, need your thoughts on this.
I accepted a job offer at a new company but had to push back my start date by a week because I caught adult chickenpox (bulutong). I shared this in confidence with a few trusted colleagues who are already working there.
Long story short, it got leaked to the whole team. Someone forwarded me screenshots of their company Group Chat, and it turns out my future teammates are actively making fun of me and laughing about it. Worse, the immediate manager was in the GC and didn't even stop it, sinabi lang niya na magpa-vaccine sila.
Medical history is strictly Sensitive Personal Information under the Data Privacy Act, and honestly, seeing those screenshots is causing me so much stress and anxiety before my first day.
* Should I report this directly to the new company's HR and Data Protection Officer (DPO) before I start?
- How do I even face a team and a manager on Day 1 knowing they were just mocking my health condition?
