What’s this object??

Hi! Now sure if this is the right subreddit but can you help me identify this object (blue arrow)??? 5 Little Monkeys Felt Book. I can tell the hair, bow ties, hat, glasses, thermometer, but what the heck is this purple pink thing?! Husband and I are scratching our heads.
Thanks!

How are we getting our babies down for a nap? Advice and personal experience requested

Hi all! Looking for advice and personal experiences from other co-sleeping families about naps and sleep associations.

My daughter is 9.5 months old, and we’ve co-slept since birth. For nighttime sleep, she usually falls asleep nursing around 8:30 PM and sleeps until about 9:00 AM. However, she typically wakes up crying 2 times during the first few hours of the night (usually around 9:30 PM and 11:00 PM), and I nurse her back to sleep each time. (The waking up screaming is a new thing)

She currently takes one nap a day around 1:00 PM that lasts anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours. Most naps happen in our bed. She often wakes from naps crying as well and usually needs to nurse back to sleep.

We recently hired a nanny three days a week because I’m trying to get back to working from home. Ideally, I’d like the nanny to be able to put her down for naps. We’ve tried having the nanny rock her to sleep, but so far it’s been rough. The first few attempts involved about 15 minutes of crying before she finally fell asleep. The most recent attempt lasted about 30 minutes before I stepped in and nursed her.

I’m feeling a bit stuck because I can’t always be available to nurse her to sleep once I start taking more meetings. She won’t take a bottle and has never liked pacifiers.

I’ve heard from friends that sleep training methods like Ferber or CIO can involve a few difficult days before things improve, but I’m not sure those approaches fit our family. We plan to continue co-sleeping at night, so I’m also wondering whether traditional sleep training would even be effective in our situation.

For those of you who co-sleep and nurse to sleep, how did you handle naps when another caregiver needed to put your baby down? Did anything work particularly well for you?

Thanks!

▲ 10 r/Nanny

So idk exactly what I’m looking for with this post specifically. Maybe some suggestions/help or a bit of a vent? Is this normal in the industry or am I doing something wrong? Why is finding a nanny SO hard??? either way…
I’m looking for a nanny for my 8mo. 4 days a week 10-4pm guaranteed with the probability to increase hours gradually as I get back into work. Offering $20-25/hr, the going rate for Texas. No other duties than childcare and maybe baby laundry 1x/week if that even. I’m WFH but plan on locking myself in my bedroom to not get in her way (I’ve been lurking this sub for a while and trying to be a good MB!).
I make a Facebook post on my local ‘looking for a nanny’ page with all these details asking those interested to send me a DM. I get lots of hits of course (30ish) and the attrition rate is crazy!

-half of them only saying “I’m interested”, either as a comment on the post or sending me a DM. I write back asking for a blurb/resume… crickets

-the half that sent me a blurb/resume from the get go, I offered a quick (15ish min) phone call to see if we’re compatible/vibe check, asked and confirmed if they had reliable transportation, pets, conflicts in schedule, etc. Scheduled a phone call with 13 girls… 3 “no showed” the phone call

-of those remaining 10, 2 weren’t compatible because they couldn’t work the days/time I offered (despite clearly putting the days in the post) and one lived in a city 3hrs away (idk?????). we invited 7 girls to come interview in person for ~1hr. WE EVEN OFFERED $20 for the visit!

-girl 1: 3 min from scheduled time texts me she’s going to be 15min late, 23min later texts me “5min”, 7min later texts me saying she’s outside my complex, proceeds to text back and forth for directions, turns out she’s in an uber and the uber driver won’t drive past the gate despite the gate being wide open. 10 min of texting until I get in my car and drive to pick her up. Girl, why wouldn’t you call me right away if you’re having trouble!? Also, she’s in the process of getting her license which will take ~6 weeks (I guess she lied when we asked if she had reliable transportation?)

-girl 2: very professional, on time, good communication, overall decent candidate but has some minor cons

-girl 3: 1 min past scheduled time calls me saying she’s on her way to my place but has to turn around because her daughter is having a hard time at daycare and needs to be picked up, understandable except you’re calling late but ok! we rescheduled for another date and meeting went fine

-girl 4: cancelled a few days in advanced because she accepted a position with another family (was very sad about this, she had the best vibes on the phone and seriously gave off Disney princess vibes)

-girl 5: in the am I confirm she’s coming, 40min prior she says she’ll be 30min late because her ride is late (again no car despite telling me you had one?), either way no problem, hour past that nothing, I text asking if she’s ok, hours later I get a sorry response …

-girl 6: this morning, no show, no text

-girl 7: TBD

Like what the heck! Am I crazy or is this normal for this industry???
Maybe it’s because I’m looking on FB? Is there a better service I should be using?
I’m just so confused!
