There seems to be some kind of "engine poison" on my modded ships: none-to-low engine power; and red engine bars, despite no damage.

I'm running into a really interesting bug. It seems like ships with significant mods develop an "engine poison", wherein they gradually lose power, until you get little or no speed at all after some number of jumps. Swapping out some of the hubs & engines gets maybe 10% power back Currently afflicting ships I have (re)built with Falkland, ASC-Deimos, and VTI Habs; not affecting my main ship that only has some ASC-Deimos scanners added.

Anyone else ever run into this particular kind of issue?

Caught this awesome image while on a mission to Bannoc IV-b

Mid-foreground is a slightly mod-upgraded "Steadfast" from a previous post.

iroh : a networking library that supports IPv6 + IPv4, relying on key-based routing over QUIC to maintain connectivity.

Saw this on TLDR, and thought it might be useful to some programmers on here.

Looking to make a few bucks on the side to help folks out with some IT questions and project work.

I already have a steady job, so not looking for a different one, nor trying to "start an LLC or business" per rule 6 (actually tried that a few years ago, and it didn't work out). I'm just trying to plug a home budget gap my family incurred from some home improvement needs and recent travel; neither of these things we do on the regular. I know some folks were asking me some Linux questions in a previous post: I could help folks set that up, or write some code, or give my eyes to a project you have in mind. I figure it'd be a nights/weekends thing: current gig keeps me plenty busy. I'm over in Palms. Thanks!

For sale: used WiFi-6E router + used roller mouse

https://preview.redd.it/byzmyi167j3h1.jpg?width=1888&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3ebbeed3d26e266c2439b92859c0191ee5c87867

Router works; just upgraded to a WiFi-7 unit with features I wanted to have. $50 (new's $100)

Roller mouse; my wife was using it for a while. Last time I tested it, it worked. $50, but whoever gets it can pay after verifying it works for their needs. New ones go for hundreds of dollars.

Cat's name is Blue, and not for sale. :D

I'm on the Westside!

One of my brothers just informed me he's been reading "Behold a Pale Horse"

I know I've heard about that book before here, if not on the show. Apparently, some conspiracy theorist/militia guy wrote it? Any kind of cultural antidote for this dark rabbit hole he's on the edge of?

[Free] iMac-2010 with updated Linux install

Well, my wife & I rebuilt an iMac 2010 (with the 2560-res screen) a while back, and it's been collecting dust. Since both macOS and Windows are EOL for the system, I stuck an OEM install of Linux Mint on it (means you can customize it to your liking). One of the USB ports is wonky, else the rest of it works fine. You will need your own keyboard & mouse.

I'm over on the Westside. I can even help load additional stuff on it or provide guidance on how to use it.

UPDATE: handed off system already. Thanks for the interest!

"In materials science, a disappearing polymorph is a form of a crystal structure (a morph) that is suddenly unable to be produced, instead transforming into a different crystal structure with the same chemical composition (a polymorph) during nucleation."
