ive been religiously (haha get it, faith) listening to the 1989 live versions from the prayer tour of faith, they closed a bunch of shows with it for some reason. there is just something about them, the bass sounds different and more full than the studio version, and the lower quality of the recordings also add that strange feeling that i cant explain. it really makes me wish that there was a disintegration era studio rerecording of the song, but maybe the fact that all we have of it are low quality recordings adds to the mysterious nature of these versions. the improvised and most times incoherent lines at each show are just so insanely sad and it clearly shows how robert was absolutely destroyed during this era, you can clearly hear him cry at multiple shows, other shows hes just straight up screaming like the famous tiananmen square version. i dont really know where im going with this, i just really like the prayer tour versions of faith
