Could Timothee Finally Get an Oscar Nomination for Paul Atreides?

Do you guys see any chance of Timothee or even Pattinson getting nominated in any acting categories for Dune Part Three? I’m sure both of them are going to absolutely kill it.
The film is also releasing much closer to the Awards season this time, so I think we can expect better awards results than Dune Part Two. But we never know, especially since the Academy has never exactly been fair to this genre for the most part.

Chalamet will have to contend with John Malkovich, currently the frontrunner for Wild Horse Nine according to most predictions, along with Matt Damon and Tom Cruise, I’m not sure how strong Cruise’s chances are given the film’s polarizing reception, but his performance is easily my favourite of the year. That ten minute monologue in the European Parliament is something I genuinely cannot stop thinking about.

Pattinson is a little more complicated. I’m convinced his performance as Scytale will be one of the highlights of the year, and he could certainly be in contention for Supporting Actor for Dune Part Three. However, if he gets recognised for Primetime, it would be in the Lead Actor category. Has an actor ever been nominated in both Lead and Supporting at the Oscars in the same year? Seeing Pattinson pull that off would be incredible, although I know that i am getting ahead of myself.

At the very least, I hope Timothee gets a nomination. It’s his last time playing Paul Atreides, and I’d love to finally see the role get the recognition it deserves.

Just got back from my first solo Europe trip… now I’m torn between China and Japan for my next solo trip

I’m 21 and recently came back from my first ever international solo trip. My parents have never really been into traveling, so if I wanted to see the world, I figured I’d have to start doing it myself.
I spent 9 days across Vienna, Budapest,Bratislava, Prague and Cesky Krumlov. I’ll admit, I was pretty nervous before leaving. It was my first time traveling alone, in a completely different part of the world, and I had no idea how it’d go.
Turns out, it was the best experiences I’ve had. I met some great people, got way more comfortable being on my own, and now I can’t stop thinking about where to go next.
One thing that genuinely impressed me was Vienna’s public transport, especially the trams. Everything was so simple and reliable that after the first day I stopped worrying about getting around. It made solo travel feel incredibly easy.
Now I’m looking at Asia for my next trip. I’ve always been fascinated by both Chinese and Japanese culture/lore, and I’ve wanted to visit both for years.

I’d also love to hear which cities you’d recommend. Right now I’m leaning toward Shanghai + Chongqing for China, or
Tokyo + Kyoto for Japan, but I’m open to changing my mind if there’s a better option.

For those who’ve been to both, which would you choose for a first trip, China or Japan?

Should I still take my Qatar Airways flight via Doha today?

Hello everyone,

I have a Qatar Airways flight today from Nagpur to Doha and then onward to Vienna for an Eastern Europe group tour.

With the ceasefire having ended again, I've been feeling quite anxious, especially since Doha hosts a major US airbase. I know Qatar Airways is generally regarded as one of the safest airlines, but I can't help worrying about the current situation.

I know you guys get questions like this a lot, and I'm sorry for adding another one. I'm mainly looking for some reassurance or honest opinions.
If you were in my position, would you still take today's flight?

Thanks in advance. I really appreciate any advice.

Got an Amendment Request after Austrian Schengen appeal, can I request different travel dates?

Applied for Austrian Schengen, got refused, submitted an appeal, and a few days later got an amendment request asking me to resubmit my passport at VFS. Really wasn’t expecting this at all

My original travel dates were in late June but I’d already cancelled my flights after the refusal since I had almost no expectations. Now those dates just aren’t feasible anymore.

Can I include a note requesting mid to late July dates instead when resubmitting the passport? Has anyone done this? Would like some advice.

Austria Visa Refused - Worth Appealing?

Only refusal point 10 was marked:
“The information submitted regarding the justification for the purpose and conditions of the intended stay was not reliable.”
In the remarks, they mentioned they could not verify my university enrollment because there was no reply to their verification email. The email they contacted was the same one mentioned on my bonafide certificate and student ID card from Symbiosis International University, Pune.

I’m going to the university personally to ask why they didn’t reply and to obtain stronger enrollment verification documents, official confirmation letters, fee receipts, etc.

I had also clearly stated in my cover letter that the main purpose of my Austria trip was to attend the F1 Austrian Grand Prix, and I had already attended the Qatar GP’24 solo previously as well.

My main questions are:

  1. Would appreciate advice from people who’ve dealt with Austrian/Schengen appeals before.

  2. While appealing, should I resend my entire application/travel documents again on mail, or mainly focus on university verification + documents related to point 10?
