Hey everyone, this is a video of my bikepacking journey through northern and central Laos as part of cycling from Singapore, through Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia.

I created a more rugged route to Luang Prabang, roughly following the route of the Laos-China railway, then to Van Vieng, and finally the capital of Vientiane. Along the way I experience the water soaked celebrations of Pi Mai Lao, or Laos New Year, which was a nice way to cool off during the hot weather.

While cycling through Southeast Asia and in Laos, I took a detour to a remote village in the nothern part of the country and did a guided, two day trip through the biggest cave in the area, the third longest/biggest in entire country.

Chom Ong was only recently further explored and developed with the goal of increasing tourism and incomes for the area in 2010. The first kilometer or so is develped with lighting, cement pathways, etc but after that it is ~15km of a primary fossil passageway then the active river pathway.

I found my guide, Thongkhan, on facebook and with the help of another guide the three of us made this two day trip through the cave. As someone who had very little experience in caves before, this was simply incredible.

Hey everyone, here's a video featuring my last few days in Thailand and my first few days in Laos. After a foggy mountain pass and then getting a parasite removed from my eye, things went pretty smoothly and I enjoyed the more rugged roads of Laos as well as the opportunity to explore an awesome cave by myself.
