What's your heart rate like on this?

So last week my doctor raised my 25mg metoprolol er to 50mg and I noticed when I wake up my pulse is staying in the 50s and low 60s. What freaked me out was this morning my pulse oximeter dipped to 47 and then brought back into the 50s. Is this bad? This is the first time I've seen anything in the 40s. And I don't see my doctor for another 3 weeks.

How many medications did it take til you found the right one for you?

So i am on my 3rd medication and I feel so defeated. I feel like something is wrong with me. Nothing is working. Losartan 25 and then 50mgs didn't work. Gave me horrible headaches. Amlodipine 5mgs didn't work. Horrible side effects. Both of them made no difference at all on my blood pressure. I feel like I'm broken. Now my doctor raised my beta blocker. He was so confident that would be it. I knew in my head it wouldn't be but now its been over a week and no change except in my heart rate. How many tries did it take you to find the correct one or combo? I need reassurance that I'm not broken and will be stuck with high blood pressure forever.

My mom assured me herself and my dad went through this but still. This is so stressful. And not helping my health anxiety at all.

What was this feeling after eating?

So I've been on a raised dose of metoprolol for one week now. Was on 25mg er now on 50mg er. Woke up this morning feeling alright. Have to go to work so I made myself breakfast and ate. After eating I just got hit with this wave of lightheaded dizziness. My stomach and my chest felt weird. This lasted for about 40mins. I'm slowly starting to feel better now but that was scary. Checked my BP before and after and it remained the same. I was thinking something with my blood sugar. Anyone have any insight of what could have caused this? Last week when I started the increased dose I was on vacation so I did not eat for hours after waking up. Now that I'm back to work I have to.

Birthday party info

Can anyone tell me how I'm supposed to pull up directions for these new birthday party themes? I finally found the birthday hub since they broke Mikcheck. Almost all of the links I click don't do anything at all. I'm clicking it and nothing. We have 3 parties booked on one day coming up. This is absolutely ridiculous that they let them do this. With only an hr in-between each of them. The middle party is tie dye which is going to be a huge clean up. I need to be able to pull up info on tie dye and paint party.

Health anxiety

Health anxiety is killing me

I've dealt with this demon off and on for years. This time its taking everything I am. I have severe cardiophobia. Last year my mom had a medical emergency where she was having seizures and was in a medically induced coma for 2 weeks. Doctor told me it was because her blood pressure was uncontrolled for so long. Now since then it has sent me in a health anxiety spiral. The past 3 weeks I have constantly been reaching for the BP cuff. I woke up this morning and I have a bruise from taking it so much. I just want this cycle to end. I want to feel like myself again.

Metoprolol success stories please?

Hi. I've been on metoprolol er 25mgs for about 5years now. I remember side effects when I first started but that was so long ago. Never had any issues since. Now my doctor has raised my dose to 50mg and I'm experiencing side effects that I do remember the first time around some i don't really. Like the strange chest sensations I remember so I'm not letting that freak me out as much cause first time around I had every heart test done because of it and nothing wrong and it eventually went away. Now I'm having slight tingling in my feet. Just wondering if I could hear some success stories of those that it actually worked for them and side effects went away and are happy with it? Of course when you search most medications the negative experiences outweigh the good. I know that all medications react to everyone differently. That was me with amlodipine. I had horrible side effects on that.

I would love to hear your positive stories please to help me get through the next couple weeks of side effects. I am now on day 5 of my higher dose.

Brain wooshes

For the past month I've been having some type of brain wooshes. I've heard this can be from anxiety. Its the craziest feeling. Especially when I'm trying to fall asleep it happening constantly. I've been to the er when this first started happening. Checked my heart and brain and said everything is fine. Has anyone ever felt anything like this? Its like a rush comes over my head and if I were standing I'd be dizzy. I have learned that I can stop them if I feel it coming. Like just focus on something else and it stops. I kinda feel it in my chest too.

Hard to explain brain wooshes

This is going to be hard to explain. So for I'd say a little over a month now I have been experiencing this weird sensation. Best way to describe it is a brain woosh. I feel a rush come over my brain and I feel it in my chest as well. First It started when I was getting a little overwhelmed at work. Now the most annoying part is it's happening constantly as I try to fall asleep. When it happens when I'm trying to fall asleep it almost feels like I'm nodding out and forget to breathe and then woooosh I'm wide awake, heart beat elevated. Its very uncomfortable because all I want to do is fall asleep. I am under extreme amounts of stress and have been having a large bout of health anxiety. Right when this started to happen I was also getting headaches. I went to the er and they checked my brain and heart and said everything was fine. Reading on it says it can be brought on by stress. Has anyone had this type of feeling? I hate it so much and just want it to go away. My doctor recently adjusted my medications taking me off of one of the blood pressure medications and that has made the headaches ago away completely. He also raised my beta blocker which I am taking right before bed so I don't know if this is causing it. If it is stress related this happening is definitely not helping the stress go away. July 1st I have insurance and I'm going to have a full work up with heart and brain specialists. But I don't think I can go over a month not being able to fall asleep because of this.

Also, I should note I have noticed if I focus I can make it stop right and the woosh is building up. Like I feel it coming. So you would think if it really were heart or brain related I wouldn't be able to make it stop?

Silly obvious question about metoprolol

I feel silly even asking but I want some reassurance. So I was on metoprolol er 25mg for years and my heart rate kinda had just just been staying around 80bpm. Yesterday my doctor raised me to 50mg er. My blood pressure has been great all day and my heart rate is staying at 60bpm even during activities. So my question is..when I take my second dose tonight being 24hrs after my first is it going to lower my heart rate even more? Or is it just going to maintain what its been doing today? I have a fear of my heart rate just sinking. I know that its obviously supposed to be taken every 24hrs for maintenance but I just need some validation lol

Success stories on medications that work well with Metoprolol

I have my doctor's appointment later today and I am currently in the juggling to find the right blood pressure medication stage. I have been on metoprolol for years now. Not quite doing the trick alone. I have tried losartan didn't work for me. Amlodipine absolutely hated it. Terribly scary side effects on it. Looking for some insight before he gives me a new one to try today.

Amlodipine and metoprolol rapid heart rate?

So my doctor is currently trying to find the right combo for my blood pressure. I have been on metoprolol for many years it has always lowered my heart rate to sitting at 60-70bpm but never really lowered my blood pressure by much. So he recently added amlodipine 5mg. Had a terrible experience my first night on the combo. Fell asleep and 2hrs later woke up with my heart pounding and blood pressure high. Called my doctor told me to take 25mg metoprolol in the day and a 2nd one at night with my amlodipine to see if if it'll help and to stick with the amlodipine. So I've now been on it 8days. Besides that one night its been okay. Haven't had another night like that again...until tonight. Just happened again. Fell asleep normally and just woke up 2hrs later to my heart racing. Took my blood pressure 156/88 with 100bpm. Horrible feeling.

Now I have been laying here taking calm breaths I've gotten it down to 138/80 with 83 bpm. Has anyone had anything like this happen to them with amlodipine? You would think the metoprolol would stop my heart rate from going that high especially asleep. I'm thinking maybe I should be taking the metoprolol a couple hours before the amlodipine now. I have my doctor's appointment Wednesday. I'm kinda bummed cause the other side effects have pretty much gone away and I was getting excited that I was starting to see some normal numbers with my blood pressure.
