Warranty issues with larger tire size? Also what tire are you switching to?

I have the stock continentals on my 2025 Bronco Sport Badlands. I’m thinking I’ll have to replace those in the next 3-4 months. Current tire size is 225/65/R17. I’m interested in the 235/65/R17 Falken Wildpeaks. Has anyone ever had an issue with their powertrain warranty being honored after going up a size? And should the transmission be recalibrated for the different size or is that difference small enough that it won’t matter? Any performance reviews of the Wildpeaks?

Favorite easy meals to cook while car camping!

Give me your recipes! We’re going on a road trip tomorrow and will be camping most of the time - I have some go to meals I usually cook but would like to make life a little more interesting by branching out! We’ll have a Coleman Camp stove as well as a fire in a fire pit. Ideally as little dish clean-up as possible; not everywhere has a good sink set up for that lol

Excited to hear what you all have up your sleeves!

Hiking in Needles District at Canyonlands - recommendations?

Hello! We're going to be camping for a night at Needles Campground in Canyonlands in about 10 days. Hoping to do a half day hike from the campground or nearby it. So maybe a 4-5 hour hike. What are your recommendations? We are in decent shape but not very experienced with rock scrambling - for example, I've done the Devil's Garden Hike at Arches before and found it moderately challenging and really liked it. Looking for something similar or maybe slightly harder but ideally nothing with huge drop offs where you are forced to walk right on the edge (my partner gets a little freaked out by those)

I've been looking at the Big Spring/Wooden Shoe hike, or maybe Lost Canyon? Thanks for your advice folks!

2025 Bronco Sport Badlands with blown head gasket

I recently bought a new to me 2025 Bronco Sport Badlands with 14,500 miles on it. This is the 2.0 L Ecoboost engine. Noticed the coolant level was dropped very slowly, so I took it into the dealer and sure enough the head gasket was blown and leaking coolant into the cylinders.

I know this is crazy early for a head gasket to go out. I’ve had cars with close to 200,000 miles on them and have never had to replace one of those. I have a few questions:

First, how common is this in these cars? I’ve been reading that Ford had this issue with Ecoboost engines from 2017-2020 but that it’s been redesigned twice since then, and while the 1.5 L had some lingering problems the 2.0 L were supposed to be ok. If my head gasket is going to be going out every 15,000 miles I’ll definitely be trading this car in before the warranty is up.

Second question - someone I know blamed this on the auto start - said because it was a small engine with turbo things were getting pretty hot and so to shut off the auto start and also let the car idle for 30 seconds before shutting it off to keep the coolant flowing. Not sure how accurate this idea is?

Blow head gasket at 15,000 miles?

I bought a 2025 Bronco Sport Badlands about a month ago - got a good deal bc it had high miles for being a year old. Or so I thought!

I noticed that the coolant was slightly low so I took it in to the dealer out of an abundance of caution - turns out coolant was leaking into the cylinders due to a head gasket leak. I know this is extremely early for this to happen - essentially has to be a defect. I’ve never had to replace a head gasket before and I’ve run cars into the ground haha. Of course this is covered by the warranty, but I won’t have my car back for at least a week which is a huge inconvenience. Has anyone else had this specific failure occur?

Valley of the Gods and Moab area BLM camping

Hey all, asking a few more questions of you all for my trip! Thanks for all the advice so far, I appreciate what a knowledgeable group of folks this is!

Wondering if you have recommendations for good camping spots on BLM land in/near Valley of the Gods and also near Moab in mid-June - I know most of the options near Moab are first come first serve campgrounds.

My caveat is that we will likely be driving into both of these areas near dinnertime; late afternoon at the earliest. I'm wondering what spots are less likely to be full at that time of the day. We're tent campers with a decent off road vehicle, so can navigate mildly tricky roads but need a good spot to put a tent.

I've been in a pinch before where you have a hard time finding a good spot late in the day and end up crammed into the back of a car pulled off of a random BLM road at 9pm when the sun goes down lol, trying to plan ahead a bit!

Devil's Garden Hike in Arches

This is definitely about a NP this time! My last post was canned for asking about BLM camping areas 😄 I was at Arches three years ago in August and was able to find parking at the lot at the Devil's Garden area in the late morning. Granted the lot was probably 90% full but it wasn't hard to find a spot.

If we're there on a Monday morning in mid-June how early do we need to get there? I've seen that the recommendation is to be there before 7am?

Looking for your best tips and tricks for an Utah road trip!

Hello! My partner and I are going to be doing a Road trip through southern Utah/northern AZ in early June. We have about a week for the following route - coming down from the Tetons and starting in Green River, UT before heading home from Moab. Planning to spend the last three days in the Canyonlands/Moab area, the first four days for the beginning of the trip.

I originally had Zion as part of the route but think we'll save it for another trip down the road when we have more time.

Looking for all your suggestions for the route, must see places along the way, hikes, camping spots, places to eat in town etc. We have a Ford Bronco Sport that has solid off roading capacity and are experienced campers and hikers but also like to sleep in a bed and shower every 3 days or so haha. I have done two Utah road trips in the past and feel like I could do 100 more and not see everything I want to; can't wait to head back.

Need some Zion advice for parking/getting into the park

We are planning an Utah trip and will be hiking in Zion for a day in mid-June. We’ll be coming from Bryce Canyon and have two options:

  1. Hike at Bryce, stay the night there and drive to Zion the next morning

  2. Hike at Bryce, drive to Zion in the evening, camp there and hike Zion the next day.

Wondering if folks have advice? I have camped at Bryce before and it is gorgeous. I’d rather camp there, but I have heard it is very hard to get parking inside of Zion at the Visitor Center if you arrive after 7am, and I honestly don’t know if we’d get to the park entrance before 8am. Since we’re coming through the East Gate we won’t be able to use the Springdale shuttle. Advice much appreciated!

How to protect steel skid plate?

For those of you with a Badlands, what are you doing to protect the front steel skid plate? I noticed mine has some marks where the protective coating has scraped off. No rust, but I want to prevent that from happening - does rust-oleum work or are there other products as well?

Looking for some options for camping in mid-June along this route. We will be coming from Zion and heading to Monument Valley area - we want to camp somewhere for a night between Kanab and Vermillion Cliffs so we can get an early start on a hike in Vermillion Cliffs.

We will be tent camping so that does limit us - would prefer to not camp in a busy RV park. I've done dispersed camping before but since we will be in a tent I'd want to make sure the spot is relatively safe. I know there are options for that in the Jacob Lake area on BLM land. Would welcome any and all recommendations!

My partner and I just bought an Avocado Mattress (medium), a few days ago. They love it, but I think it is a little firm and it hasn’t helped my back pain very much. For context, we previously had a very crappy Amazon mattress and I would wake up with back pain at night and have to change positions frequently. We are both back sleepers. Will the mattress soften with a little time or should I look into a mattress topper? If so I’d appreciate recommendations on mattress toppers. I do tend to sleep hot, so have been reluctant to use memory foam.

I know another option is just to return it, but my partner really loves it so I’d feel bad if we have to do that.

I'm in love with this car! Not remotely regretting my decision to upgrade from an older Subaru Outback. I'm in the process of getting acquainted with all the tech, gadgets, and more importantly the G.O.AT. modes. Would love your insights into this car - plusses and minuses you've noticed over time, how the different modes really operate, what kind of off-roading have you successfully done? I'm taking a road trip to Utah in early June and can't wait to tackle some sandy roads but also don't want to get overconfident haha.

Going to be driving through Vermillion Cliffs via 89A in early June - we have a Subaru outback with AWD and are looking for some shorter hikes (half a day or less) to do that don’t require permits. I’m not clear on which roads we will be able to access! I know the road to White Pocket is out as you need a 4x4x.

Would love your recommendations!
