Special Duty: Recruiting

I put on SrA next year and am also slated to PCS. My career field has gone downhill with a 1.99% promotion rate to staff this year, and according to the CFM, it's also being downsized.

My ultimate goal is to commission through OTS, but I don’t have the means to palace chase/front and do ROTC instead.

Given that, should I apply for a special duty like recruiting? Or what other special duties or alternative paths are recommended for someone trying to commission from active duty?

For those who are currently or have been recruiters, what are some cool or interesting places you've recruited out of?

ROTC vs OTS

For current/prior enlisted who did ROTC: How old were you, and did you have a family?

I'm in year one of my 4-year contract, married, and expecting in December. I'm torn between OTS and ROTC, but I don't want to wait 4 years for my bachelor's if I can finish it while serving now.

Is it true you only need two years of ROTC to commission, if so should I palace chase and go the ROTC route to get my masters and earn my commission? Any advice on balancing a family and navigating this route would be huge

Question about 63A assignments

Hey everyone,
Enlisted airman here with the goal of commissioning, and 63A (Acquisitions) is one of my top choices.

While looking through AMS location authorizations, I noticed a lot of 63A assignments tied to AFIT, research labs, or life-cycle management. Are these positions typically stationed at a standard military base, or are they in more of a corporate office/building setting? Also, if you’re currently a 63A, how do you like the career field?

Please let me know if this post is not allowed. Thanks in advance!
