Fewer fireworks in Pilsen?

I lived in University Village for almost 16 years in a unit hanging over the tracks in one of those cream-colored concrete buildings between Morgan and Peoria. Now I live on the corner of Halsted and 16th. I feel like fireworks were (for a long time) a fairly regular occurrence in Pilsen, but it feels like I've barely heard or seen any over the last 2-3 years...aside from the 4th of July?

Am I crazy, or have the number of fireworks throughout the summer decreased (I realize it's still early in the season)

The Obama Presidential Center is getting close to opening. Some new photos from Monday [OC]

The Obama Presidential Center's opening is just over a month away, and it's getting closer and closer to completion. On Monday morning, I swung by for a few aerials and ground-based exteriors. I know how divided this sub is on the design, but from up close at street-level, it's uniquely stunning.

A 400 Lake Shore Update from yesterday morning [OC]

Checked in on 400 Lake Shore yesterday morning. It’s so close to full enclosure. The cascading terraces are really taking shape, and when seen from straight on (3rd photo) the crown almost looks like it flares out. Should create an interesting dynamic when, or of, the second tower is built and angled more to the southeast.

I was snapping a few iPhone shots of the rainbow as the Metra passed under the expressway when a bolt dropped from the sky atop 1000M and I miraculously caught it with a 1/370th of a second shutter speed. I catch a lot of lightning on my Nikon, but this is my best phone shot to date. And no, before you ask this isn't photoshopped or AI.
