Cleveland Clinic vs. UH for New Grad RN

Hey guys! I have offers from Cleveland Clinic Main Campus cardiovascular surgery stepdown and University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center Lerner Tower 5 cardiac stepdown. I’m relocating from Tennessee and want to compare the nurse residency and overall support.

For current or former nurses:

  • How were orientation and preceptors?
  • Did you feel supported after orientation?
  • Are Cleveland Clinic’s Success Coach program and UH’s Transition to Practice program actually helpful?
  • How are the unit culture, staffing, nurse educators, and management?
  • Would you choose the same hospital again?

Finally landed a new grad job

Finally after 30+ applications I landed a new grad resident job at Cleveland Clinic for Cardiovascular Surgery Stepdown! I was so shocked when the offer was extended to me at the end of the interview 😭

I’m so excited!!

p.s. I’m not from Cleveland, OH so I was worried they’d prioritize their own residents. So if you’ve been struggling to find a job where you live or in general, try CC!

Can I Take The NCLEX In A Different State Than Where I’ll Be Licensed?

I won’t be in my licensed state (Tennessee) to take the NCLEX because I have some obligations in Maryland during that time. Is it possible to take the NCLEX in Maryland instead? Or will that affect my licensure process?
