[CANADA] Advance License - Flight Review Questions

Hello there,

Has anyone recently done their flight review for the advanced license in Canada?

Can you provide some feedback on how it was? I am planning to take a flight review prep course because it can be done the same day as the flight review, but I am doing my homework and getting prepared. The material is too generic, and some real scenarios would be much appreciated.

What I found until now was a few YouTube videos where the practical part was take off/landing, checking controls, square movement using only right control (CW and CCW), square movement using yaw control (CW and CCW), circle movement over a POI (CW and CCW), height guessing (visual), etc.

Any other real-world examples would be very helpful.

Canada/Alberta: Comfortmaker or Goodman?

Hello there,

I got 2 very similar quotes from local companies for:

Option 1: CAD $6,980 Comfortmaker N4A5S Warranty: 1 year labor, 10 year parts

Option 1.1: CAD $8,200 Comformaker C4A6S Warranty: 1 year labor, 10 year parts

Option 2: CAD $6,890 Goodman GM15-B-AC (or GLXS3BN1810) Warranty: 1 year labor, 10 year parts

Option 2.1: CAD $8,320 Goddman GM15-P-AC (or GLXS4BA1810) Warranty: 10 year labor and parts.

Option 1 and 1.1 for an extra CAD $470, the warranty is 10-year labor and parts.

I have no clue which brand is more reliable, and both vendors have more than 500 positive Google reviews.

Any advice is very much appreciated.

Rural Abandoned Places with Access

Hi all again, I know this topic was already mentioned around here, and I checked a few os the posts. I am looking for rural abandoned places with some sort of access or road view to test photographic equipment.

Google told me there was a place near Alix, but when I drove there, it was on private property, and there was a no trespassing sign on the gate.

NW of Sylvan seems to have an old Church, but I have not driven there yet.

Any other location(s) that come to mind?

Thanks again.

Motorcycle: Dual Sport or Adventure Trails

By any chance does anyone know any motorcycle trails close to Red Deer?

Planning to sell my cruiser and get a lighter adventure motorcycle, but don't want to ride 30m to get to a trail.

Tks in advance.

PROJECTOR + SCREEN: Canada - Buying Advice

Hello there,

I am in Alberta, Canada, and need to buy a projector plus screen with a budget of CAD $3k.

What we need is something good enough to project for an audience of around 150 people, and that can connect its audio to 2 channels (or 1 stereo channel) on our mixer.

Any buying advice for the projector and screen is welcome, as I have no idea how powerful they need to be. Resolution-wise, 1080p or 4k is good enough, and of course, 4k is better.

Thank you in advance.

Service Research: Drone Video Offering

Hi all,

How much are you willing to pay for:

  1. Aerial video recording for a photograph session? Let's say the drone will record a video (or videos) of the person/couple/family during a photo session? The drone will hover in pre-set locations (4 to 5) and focus on the person/couple/family. No edit will be made, just raw data, and it will probably take 10 minutes or more (depending on drone battery).

1.1 If a video edit needs to be offered as well, the price will be higher than just the raw data.

  1. Aerial video recording of the house, property, or anything that the person owns. Same thing as item 1, just raw data, and if an edit needs to be done, it needs to be at a higher price.

The initial cost should not be too much, being honest, because it is something autonomous and may take around 10 minutes or more, also, it may not happen due to weather conditions, so to avoid any headaches, I was thinking for something around $30 to $50, where $30 is for around 10 minutes and $50 no more than 30 minutes, without any edition, just raw data.

  1. Aerial photographs of the house, property, or anything that the person owns, and print a 3D model of it on a desk size (minimal, maybe 6 inches by 6 inches). Likely more expensive service because it depends on the size of what is being pictured: hundreds of pictures will likely need to be built to create an accurate 3D model, and the printing time will be longer. Probably it will start at around $100 for a small project (a single house).

This will not be a full-time service, just a side hustle.

TIA.

MiniITX Build - Canada - Recommendation

Hi, I need some help to decide which component to buy first for a new miniitx build.

My main tasks on this build are homework, gaming, video editing, and music production.

Gaming is mostly FPV simulators, and that's it.

Video editing, nothing too crazy, sometimes I need to edit some videos from work, and it is something that the gaming requirement will be enough for this task.

Music production nowadays is quite simple for my needs, and I believe the gaming requirement will suffice for this requirement.

The case, right now I have a minipc and the space that this build can sit is 12 inches x 12 inches x 6 inches (it can be a little longer, like 14 x 14 x 6.

I am in Canada for pricing reference.

Thank you in advance.
