In need for a few store recommendations for housing essentials

Hello everyone!

I am coming to Leiden this August for my Master's and have thankfully found a studio to live in!

As I have to buy a few things for the studio and the budget is quite limited, I am looking for a few store recommendations either at or pretty close to Leiden, as I do not have a car to be able to transport staff easily.

The idea is to get most of the things on my list from IKEA, but there could possibly be better options in terms of both quality and price. Specifically I am looking for stores where I could buy:

  1. office drawer units and drawers

  2. Cookware (like pans, knives, stock pots) and utensils

  3. Mugs, cups and cutlery sets and dinnerware (plates)

  4. Mirrors

  5. Bathroom essentials

Thank you in advance everyone!

Question about Niri and DEs setup and looking for a recommendation

Hello everyone!

I have decided to switch from Arch after trying it for about a year as it was an enjoyable experience (no breakage at all after I managed to set it up) but I found myself wanting to get back to Fedora.

I did enjoy the Niri WM setup I had with Arch, so I am definitely going down that route with Fedora. The only thing I had an issue with and would prefer to have a second profile with a DE is sharing my screen on Zoom/Discord, as I hate the experience with WMs.

So my questions would be:

  1. Assuming there are no issues with such setup, what is the correct way to approach this? Niri first and then DE or vice versa?

  2. What DE would you recommend? I was using KDE during the time I was on Fedora (2y) but as I will be using it mostly when sharing my screen, it may be too heavy with unnecessary packages installed, and have no experience of the other DEs.

A few questions about kernel level anti-cheat which I would appreciate some help with

Hello everyone,

I have been trying to avoid having to deal with kernel level anti-cheats (or ring-0 if I am not mistaken) but there are a few games that require it and before proceeding I am a bit curious about it.

I am not that experienced with security at all, but from my current point of view, having access to ring-0, there could be future bugs or exploits which can be taken advantage of resulting to an unnecessary risks.

My current setup consists of a dual-boot system with Arch and Win11, both installed on different SSDs. Windows are being used purely for gaming and nothing else. Obviously, with secure boot disabled, kernel level anticheats can not be installed.

In the scenario that I switch to a different distro that can have secure boot enabled, and a kernel level anti-cheat is installed on Windows, could the Linux system be in any way affected by it?

Thank you in advance!

Edit: TL;DR: Dual boot, Linux and Win on different SSDs, could any possible bug or exploit from kernel level access on windows affect the linux system?

Between Lost Ark and GW2, which is more complicated and difficult?

Hello everyone,

I am having a debate with my friend on which game is more difficult when it comes to mechanics, not necessarily for character mechanics but also boss/raids.

I have never played Lost Ark, but I felt that in GW2 raids you needed to know your character and boss mechanics to a great extent, and often have some KP (Kill Proof) to join other parties.

For those that played both, what would you say? I am looking forward to your opinions

Edit: Thank you everyone for the quick replies! I did not expect that at all so I definitely had the wrong impression of Lost Ark.
