Applied for Excelsior Scholarship today as a Junior -- am I cooked??

For context: took a gap semester last semester and am coming back for this Fall. However, when I went in to double check to info, I realized that Pell and TAP no longer cover my entire tuition and I owe quite a bit of money. I applied for Excelsior when I realized that was an option and am wondering if I'm cooked... and if the money will be distributed when the semester starts this end of August 😭

family wants me to turn down ABA job offer :(

for some context: I am a college student that still lives at home. my current job is at a bakery and I get paid minimum wage. I’ve been on the job hunt for about 5 months now, primarily searching for a healthcare job as that’s what i’m interested in.

very recently, I received a job offer from a ABA clinic and it’s specifically client home based, instead of center based. when I informed my parents of this, my mom seemed… dejected? later that day, my brother (who works for a home care agency) sat me down to tell me to not take the job. why? simple: they think i’ll be a glorified maid.

they think i’ll be diapering the client (which is possible, and i really don’t mind), i’ll be feeding the client, i’ll be doing the clients laundry, and cleaning their bathroom (all his words, not mine). the discussion admittedly got… heated, since I was (and still am!) excited about the job offer and the prospect of continuing it. Especially because I get a significant pay bump from my current job. while I know I might have to do some of those listed things above (sans cleaning their bathroom because… i’m not a maid? that’s not in the job description? and even if i was, it’s not the end of the world).

the crux of this argument being this: my family thinks that a home-based ABA job is demeaning because I’ll be a glorified maid for the client for like, 4 hours everyday. It got so heated my mom started crying. CRYING! I’ve never faced such a strong reaction like this before and honestly i’m at a loss at what to do :( I really want this job yet I’m facing pushback at every turn.

for some additional context: I come from a conservative, south asian household. back home, my family is pretty well off and we even have live in maids. my guess is that… they’re being fucking elitist even though they don’t actually know what the job entails…
