I’m 17 and gave a talk on how "Information Overload" is destroying our attention spans

Hey guys, I’ve been lurking here while trying to fix my constant brain fog. One thing I realized is that my issue wasn't just screen time, it was "information overload." We are consuming more data in a single day than people a century ago did in a lifetime, and it's frying our dopamine receptors.I got so invested in this topic that I actually gave a TedX talk about it to show how having too much info paralyzes our brains and stops us from actually taking action. My main argument is that we don't just need a digital detox; we need an information diet. Since the video just went live on YouTube, I wanted to bring this concept to this sub. For those of you who have successfully done a dopamine detox, did you cut out informative content (like podcasts, documentaries, and essays) too, or just mindless scrolling? Is "good information" still toxic if it's too much? The video is on the official TEDx channel under "
The side effects of having too much information | Sana Kailas Khandelwal | TEDxGMIS Youth" if you want to see the full breakdown of the framework I used, but I’d love to just discuss the theory here in the comments. I'll attach the link in the comment section too!

Everyone says "get off your phone," so at 17, I gave a TEDx talk on the uncommon side effects of information overload instead.

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my perspective here because I think this community understands this struggle better than anyone else. Most advice our generation gets is generic and lazy: "just put your phone down" or "limit your screen time." It doesn't actually address the root issue. When I got the opportunity to speak on a TEDx stage, I wanted to bring a major twist to the conversation. Instead of repeating the usual talking points, I did deep research into the uncommon, weird side effects that consuming too much information has on our brain chemistry, decision fatigue, and mental clarity. As a 17-year-old, I felt my own brain melting from the constant influx of data, so I took the stage to explain what is actually happening to us under the hood.
