Moto G Stylus 2026: Upgrade Only If...

... your phone is 2 or more years old. OK? Geez. Tired of hearing how it's so similar to the 2025 version, and why didn't they upgrade this or that. My last phone was the Galaxy a54. Great little phone. Gave it to my dad, so it's still in the family. But I got it in 2023. Wanted something new. Samsung decided to drop the microSD slot, so I went with moto. Simple. So, now I have a phone that, in some ways, was a lateral move: about the same speed, with a slightly larger screen. But I did get a 3.5mm headphone jack back, kept the microSD slot, AND got an active stylus. All pluses, if you ask me.

But what about the 2025 model, I hear some of you ask? 1. No active stylus. and 2? Didn't come in black (my favorite color, esp. for technology).

I get it; if you upgrade your phone every year (why, though?!), then this phone might not be worth it. But I waited 3 years, so it feels OK (so far). I think that's a decent amount of time.

Of course, if it starts to suck within the next 6 months, I'm going to deny I ever said this, LOL

STOP PROMOTING YEARLY UPGRADES!

You should definitely ALWAYS skip the next year's upgrade on a phone, unless you're a reviewer. And speaking of reviewers, their perspective is skewed by the fact that they are always upgrading devices. That is not a habit to foster in the general population.

Is the Light Phone antisocial?

I'm asking because, given all of the hurdles Light users have to impose on everyone else (who aren't, I mean), has it led to being excluded from group texts/meetups, etc.? Feels, from the outside looking in, even worse than Apple and their iMessage nonsense.

RG34XXSP STOCK MOD, CHANGE REDUNDANT OPTIONS?

On the main menu for Stock and Stock Mod, there's both a menu for games, and a RetroArch option. WHY? And even if there's a reason that makes sense, is there any way to edit the menu so I can remove it? It throws me off seeing two options that lead to the same thing.

First, I get the concept of the Light Phone: limits as a way to a net freedom, over smartphone addiction.

BUT, I'd think that, from a potential customer standpoint, couldn't the argument be made that locking down the user from the Android underneath is causing more trouble than its worth? Denying access to hardware features such as NFC and a fingerprint scanner in today's world is just silly.

Look, I know; we believe in the premise, and we all admit to the problem this device is trying to address. But, can we also admit that, given where the device is TODAY, it isn't doing that very well. Not without a LOT of grading on a curve? Can we not like the solution but be critical of the execution?
