Saroma on incision

Curious how many folks have had issues with seroma during healing process. Anterior THR on 9/16 and healing was going great until early last week. Noticed a lump developing under incision that continued to get larger. Called surgeon’s office on Wednesday and got in later that day to get it drained. ~45ml of fluid was drained that was a red color but not viscous like blood. Surgeon wasn’t too concerned, we discussed it, fairly typical part of healing process. Told me to wear something that could provide some compression. Only had yoga pants which aren’t that great for compression depending on which pair I’m wearing. Had my intake for out patient PT on Thursday morning. The saroma was back but didn’t seem quite as large and we’d talked about how the body should reabsorb. She said to call surgeon’s office and let them she told me to call because she was concerned it would impede my ability to do some PT exercises and just out of abundance of caution. Got an appointment for Friday afternoon. Drained ~70mL fluid. I think he was planning on sending it off for testing because it was in a specimen cup and I noticed he had an extra piece of paper that looked like he needed to fill out that he kept while giving me the check out sheet. Talked about getting something with more compression. Spent several hours trying to track down something with more compression. Not very easy. Ended up buying two pairs of spandex shorts that seemed to have some good compression to them after looking at everything they had available in Dick’s. And proceeded to look at two other places including medical supply and left empty handed. Last night wrapped the area in ace bandage and put the spandex shorts on over that. Woke up in the morning and took it all off to assess. Seems like fluid has been accumulating that was pushed outside of the ace bandage. The incision is also filling back up. Got rid of the bandage since I didn’t want to move it into different parts of the thigh. Will be calling surgeon Monday morning to get back in. It doesn’t hurt. No fever. No chills. No new aches.
Husband is freaking out. I’m not…that much. I’m concerned and monitoring. Anyone else have a sort of similar experience? Had posterior approach on left last year with staples and didn’t have this sort of issue. This is closed with glue.

Red Mistletoe Cactus is Green

We’ve had this red mistletoe cactus for 3-5 years now. It was in a smaller hanging pot when we bought it and eventually outgrew it. When I repotted it, I broke it up so it had a bit more space. The two biggest parts got their own little pots and a third which was basically a twig got a little tiny pot that I took to work. The little twig that’s only a couple leaves is still red in my office window. The two bigger plants on my front porch have both turned green with a hint of reddishness. Any ideas why? The one hanging is where it’s always hung, just a little lower because of the length of the macrame hanger versus the little hanging pot. The other one sits on a little table nearby. Both get good amounts of sun, facing east.

EDIT: forgot. In New Orleans, so Zone 9b to 10a

GLP1 & Osteoarthritis

I’ve read that GLP1s can help alleviate inflammation associated with osteoarthritis/hip dysplasia/need for THR. I talked to my PCP about starting GLP1s while I was waiting to meet with my new surgeon and get my surgery date. Today was my second dose. I’ve noticed my hip pain has decreased. Is it really the GLP1 working that quickly? Is it because my body is focusing on a different area of pain (dog bite on finger)? I still have the limp and can feel the clicking and popping but doesn’t seem to be as extremely painful as it was. Seems like that’s too quick to make a difference?

The right hip is starting to crap out now ☹️

I had left THR less than one year ago, June 25, 2025. It was life changing. I had suffered with left hip pain for years not realizing my issue had always been my hip due to undiagnosed hip dysplasia and unknown bone on bone…not once did any medical professional suggest I see an orthopedist. Until the day I couldn’t take the pain anymore. The surgery went great. The first three days of recovery sucked but it was all uphill after that. Life has been great since. Two working hips. Did a 6K and a 10K. Walking the dogs. Morning yoga. Rejoined a gym. Started working with a personal trainer. Rebuilding the muscle and range of motion that I’d lost…and not realizing there were still little muscles that hadn’t been touched during my rehab.

About a month ago, the right hip started to bother me. Knew I was coming up on my annual recheck so planned to bring it up then. X-ray came back and right looks like it still has plenty of cushion but definitely has arthritis. Prescribed mobic. That wasn’t really touching it. Couple weeks later…the limp came back. Everyone at work wanted to know what was up…I hadn’t limped since I came back from surgery. My husband saw me walking towards him when I got home from work and he immediately frowned. Called my surgeon and got in as soon as I could. Maybe there’s something going on that can’t be seen on the X-ray and we’d need an MRI to know for sure but referred to me to another doctor in the practice for steroid shot. Got that this afternoon. Hurt like no other. Stopped by a fancy grocery store to find a treat for my pain. Walked around the store like I had zero pain. But guess that was the numbing shot because jump ahead an hour and the limp and ache is back. It’s not as severe but I wouldn’t say that all tolerable because at this point, I don’t want to limp through it.

Just very frustrated and kind of depressed. Cried at my desk at work because of the pain and frustration—it burns right in the hip joint, muscle spasms and tightening already, not being able to sleep for two nights in a row because of the pain—couldn’t lay down in bed and had to move to the recliner. Cried when I was having trouble with yoga poses that were easy one month ago. Cried at the surgeon when he told me it was my hip. I was convinced I must’ve pulled a muscle or torn something since the joint was supposed to have cushion. Pretty sure THR is inevitable at this point just matter of when. How long should I give the injection time to work before I’m calling the surgeon? I was thinking a week. If I’m still limping and consistent pain, I was thinking of calling and getting referral for MRI. He wouldn’t let me do the MRI without the injection first. Goal was to try to manage the pain. Last time steroid injection lasted a couple of weeks for the left hip but the degeneration was far worse.

Screen glitches since migrating to Google?

Does anyone else's screen glitch after it migrated to Google? I've had my Inspire 3 for three years and it was working just fine until recently. The screen was glitching here and there. I changed the watch face and that seemed to help but I didn't like the new face so I put it back to the one I've had this whole time. The colors were different for the normal watch face (the one with time, month, date, and day of week) and changed them around again and the colors are different for all of them--like they're faded. I kept getting notifications but when I look , it's just a blue screen now. Changing the watch face, restarting it, nothing.

Queen of the Night questions

Couple of questions. I got pretty much a fully grown cutting from a lovely gentleman a couple of years ago and it has since grown into a bit of a monster. Now I understand why he ripped it out of the pot and handed it over instead of letting me take a small cutting as he already had 4 large pots on his porch.

What is this growing out of one of the arms in the first photo with red arrow? It has slowly slowly gotten a larger and started as smaller fibers.

Second question. It’s been growing these arms that go up to the roof of our porch and then eventually with some help goes off the front of the porch (last two pictures). Should I prune the arms back a bit to keep them from becoming too grabby? Or just let them go (what I’ve been doing)?
