banning referral codes?
there's a heap of these that pop up each week but there's no specific rule against them (or any rules tbh). does anyone else wanna see these be confined to the bin?
(if anyone wants to use them, then head to ozbargain)

I got some seal it stuff on "sale" a while back and it's been good. the bags are good quality and I have some degree of comfort that a local mob is way less likely to be selling non-food safe bags than a random seller elsewhere
not long after I got my order I noticed something very similar on aliexpress for vacuum sealing 3d filament, and I got some of those for my filament. the only noticeable difference with the bags is the colour - blue vs green, and the pump does the same thing but for $12 (or cheaper)
the official pump I have recently got a crack in the little plastic shroud, which it a $10 replacement part! let alone the cost of a new pump, $72!!!
so I tested my filament pump and it works, and it works better than the official one ever did. so if you're using these sorts of systems then don't get caught up with the brand name stuff for the pump side of it
looking at the spec sheet (PDF warning!) it provides a single set of 12v dc output terminals
am I right in thinking I can strip back an 8 pin connector and connect the wires to the relevant terminal without any hassle?
from what I can see this has been asked for before (a long time ago) but nothing currently exists
it'd be really handy to be able to see a graph of audio level alongside the motion indicator. I have found that while I can't see some areas outside my cameras, they are picking up noises that help me troubleshoot what is happening
if the noise level change was indicated somewhere it'd make investigations heaps easier!
(what am I doing? trying to figure out where my dig is getting outside the house yard from. the fence makes a noise when it goes under it, but as it's outside the camera angle I have to sit and watch for a while to find it)
tldr? the changes I have seen from old school space kos and mocs being rare to being all over the place in 12 months is amazing. give it another 12 months and these issues might be sorted
the purchases have been a mix of space, mtron, blacktron and ice plant themes from aliexpress. these have ranged from the $20 to $150 dollar mark depending on the size. delivery has been fast and sellers are usually responsive
overall they are about 80-90% great, but the parts that aren't good ruin the entire build and it means I have a few I can't even show pics of due to missing or bad parts
the issues I usually run into are;

following on from my last thread the app and in car nav/spotify/etc stopped working at the same time that the car went into dormant mode
(side note - none of the people at the local dealer had any idea about the dormancy mode, which doesn't seem great)
I got into the "dev" mode by clicking the version number a bunch of times and the car can't even see the gps or provided imei info, so it seems like a pretty slam dunk thing
but I took it into the local dealer and they had it for 8 hours and didn't get to complete diagnostics, as apparently byd only does text based tech support for dealers and they need to do a bunch of back and forth over an extended time. I am still waiting for an outcome and they mentioned I may need to take it back for more diagnosis and then again afterwards to get it fixed. yay
I had a mate who owns an atto say another local-ish dealer told him there's now a software fix for this. anyone heard about that?
I was away last week and the ute sat in the airport car park for that time. got back into town and the fob unlock didn't work, neither did the phone on the nfc sensor
so I busted the manual key out and got in but nothing would turn on. multiple presses of the ignition with the phone in place and the key in my pocket. called road side assist and they just took my details and said they'd send someone, no troubleshooting or anything done
turns out there's a dormancy mode and it's buried in the manual on page 99;
> Waking up the Vehicle from Low SOC > > ● Wake-up by the driver's door microswitch > > ● The low-voltage battery features the dormancy wakeup function. The low voltage battery may have entered a dormant state after long-term parking. In that case, the vehicle cannot be located or unlocked with the smart key. At this time, press the microswitch on the driver's door handle (See P55) to activate the lowvoltage battery. After the vehicle is unlocked, it can be used normally.
it's a neat idea and a simple icon on the dash would be super helpful to indicate it's in the state, as unless you memorise the manual there's nothing to indicate this isn't a dead flat battery (which has happened to previous 12v batteries in various byd models since launch)
edit - the micro switch is the unlock button on the driver's side
the speeds are way too close and the lowest speed it too fast. even to the point where when you flick up a spot on the stalk to the first intermittent it's slower than the lowest auto
I'm finding that auto is too fast and you end up with the wipers dry-dragging across the windscreen with an annoying af noise
anyone else feel it needs tweaking?
spotted in a medical surgery, the ceiling is about 2700 high
I am in a mixed environment, desk work but live on a bit of land so outside most days with dirt/grease/whatever it is I am doing. I've been buying fxd for a few years and while it's been good, the quality has dropped a bit of late and their pricing is not the best
does anyone have recommendations for brands?
and in other news, for someone who has been listening to this album for 126 years I am feeling a lot younger than it appears
as an aussie we still use psi a bit and you get used to that and the assumption the poster is american so it's also imperial tonnes, but the real kicker was the conversion from elephants to blue whales
I notice a lot of mg, xpeng and geely owners talking about their cars having a) driver profiles and b) a programmable button that let's you do things like open a specific app or apply a driver profile
lots of those owners are setting their profiles up to disable the more intrusive safety features on start, then linking that to the button
while there's no "spare" button on the byds, surely there's something they can do on that side
either way, why are there no profiles when I can assign access to the vehicle via nfc on phones for different drivers?!
