So, for most of my life I have thought I had straight hair and treated it as such. However, I started getting into hair types and textures, and was curious on what mine was. I started looking at it, and I think I have wavy hair.

I never had done anything fancy with my hair, just shampoo and conditioner. But I looked at tutorials, even though right now I cant get any products like Diffuser attachment or mouse or oil or anything, i started to do what some people do without products, I shampoo, conditioner, brushed it out, conditioner while pressing agaimst my head. I knew scrunching helped curls, but I didnt realize that I was just pressing it to my head, but then accidentally scrunched and realized I had been doing it wrong.

So I’ve been doing this for a little bit now, maybe a month, but sometimes I only shampoo and conditioner bc its easier.

the next bit is kinda talking about the different photos i included. The first 5 photos are my hair after its dried, and after Ive done my "routine". I havent touched the waves really yet.

The next photo is it brushed out a little afterwards. The next 2 is my hair brushed out, and the next 3 are me brushing it before wondering if I have a wave pattern. I dont usually look at the back of my head, so maybe I was just forcing the pstterns in the front or its from me sleeping on it weird, as I usually shower at night and don't sleep with a bonnet. Thats why I included the next photo.

The next photo is of my hair at the end of a day. I had done my "routine" earlier that day. The last 2 are of my hair right after my shower earlier, where i had done my "routine".

I dont use heat, my hair is super thick and doesnt hold heat at all, I have died my hair 2 times, but pretty much everything I currently have is new growth and hasn't been died, as I cut all of it off.

My mom might have wavy hair, and my dad's side of the family has curly hair, like type 3a or 3b, im not as familiar with curly hair types. So my question is like what the title says, does anyone know what type my hair is or if its actually wavy?

Right now, my guess is like 1c or maybbbbe 2a, but some small strands are way waiver than others, but maybe thats bc of heat damage from trying to curl my hair, how I sleep on it, or basically forcing them.

For signs of nonstraight hair, my hair can get frizzy sometimes. It also tangles really easily, and is super thick; I read somewhere that the thicker your hair is, the more likely it is to be curly or wavy. Sometimes even if I dont scrunch or anything in the shower, it becomes a little bit wavy.

For being more straight: its more floofy than frizzy ig, it could be from heat damage, as even tho I dont use heat much and rarely ever did in the past, we didnt use heat protection. It doesnt really fit any hair category but maybe im gaslighting myself. Maybe its just tangles since i havent brushed it at that point, idk.
