Why does no one wear shorts?

I mean this genuinely with no snark. I get why AC is not a common thing here. Energy costs and construction methods and climate etc. that makes sense to me.

The thing that confuses me is how uncommon shorts seem to be. During the heat wave last week I noticed a large number of people still wearing pants and long sleeves and even some with jackets.

Is there a cultural apparel standard I am missing? It’s just very confusing to me as someone from the south east USA where shorts were basically ubiquitous for the hot months of the year.

Here I feel I mostly only see bikers and joggers wearing them. I see pedestrians wearing them too of course just not very commonly.

Note: I mean this question with all sincerity, I am genuinely curious and not trying to make fun of anyone.

The emperor should be the war leader in defensive HRE wars

The emperor not being the war leader in defensive HRE wars makes for some seriously annoying happenings. Like France can declare on an HRE prince and speed siege it down and the princes ai will capitulate super early despite having a pretty good fighting chance.

Or the inverse happens. Where I have soundly defeated France after they invaded the HRE and the ai sits on 90% war score for years. When they finally leave out? They’ve taken like 2 counties.

It’s very very frustrating system and it would be quite easily solved by just making the emperor the war leader of defensive HRE wars.

Does anti matter have the same properties as conventional matter?

In an anti matter universe, are the properties of a given element identical to matter? Like does anti iron still have ferromagnetism? Does anti chemistry still behave like chemistry?

Do non accelerating sci fi FTL methods violate causality?

As I understand it part of why accelerating an object faster than light is impossible is because it would violate causality.

Would methods of FTL that don’t really accelerate also break causality?

Things like wormhole bridges and teleportation and the like?

How does assumed liability function if there is misrepresentation involved?

From what I understand businesses are often not liable for minor injuries that are a foreseeable potential outcome of engaging in an activity that carries inherent risk. Like a rolled ankle on a hiking trail.

My question then is how does that change if there’s some amount of Misrepresentation present?

As an example. An individual seeks out a guided hiking tour that is advertised as being well maintained and oriented towards beginners. They sign up and as part of the process sign a liability waiver.

Upon arriving to the trail all is well until about half way through when the trail becomes much rougher and is evidently poorly maintained to a degree that a reasonable individual would not consider the trail to be a beginners hiking trail anymore. As a result of the difficult terrain the customer severely rolls their ankle and must be carried out of the trail by medical personnel.

Does the waiver and reasonable expectation of risk prevent the customer from having a valid claim against the company offering the hiking tours? Or does the misrepresentation of the trail conditions invalidate the waiver and allow the customer to have a valid claim against the company?

Thank you in advance to any replies!

What determines which faction a country prefers to join in the Guelphs and ghibellines situation?

As in the title. I have no idea what determines a countries affiliation in the situation. I have maxed relations with almost all of Italy and they all have 20-50 relations with the pope and despite that none of them are changing sides to the ghibellines.

Is there something I am missing in how this affiliation is decided? I know they CAN switch because many of them started out in the Ghibs and switched sides to the Guelphs. I just can’t figure out the why of it all.

Temporary fix for the GaG situation not allowing the emperor to be the leader of the Ghibellines.

I am playing an austria run and have been frustrated by the inability to stay the leader of the Gbhiellines. I managed to make my own fix for it though and a sharing for anyone else this effects.

go to

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Europa Universalis V\game\in_game\common\international_organizations

or your equivalent. find the

guelphs_and_ghibellines file.

open it in your prefered editor, i used notepad ++. Then remove lines 229 and 231-233.

These lines require a varibale to be absent to allow the emperor to be the leader, and also require that the leader have their capital in italy.

you can likely get away with just the second removal but i did both as a precaution.

Is this normal behavior from a doctor?

Was at the doctor yesterday. There was a bloodwork work results paper that I had forgotten at home. (Not ordered by this doctor, was unrelated) I mentioned I had the bloodwork done and he asked if I had the paper on me which I informed him I did not because I did not think to bring it.

He then loudly slams his hand on his desk, gets a big frown on his face and quite angrily asks “what did you not want me to read it or something?” And then gave a loud annoyed huff.

I told him I would email the papers and then the appointment went on fairly normally after that. Except right before I left as we were both leaving the examination room he says “maybe remember to actually bring the papers meant for me next time yea?” Again sounding very angry quite suddenly.

Is this behavior at all normal or acceptable of doctors in Germany? I’m guessing not but want to be sure this isn’t typical before I make my decision on moving doctors or not.

Ps.

To preempt assertions that I should’ve brought the papers. Yea probably. But I’m sick and didn’t think about it. Forgetting such things does not merit the response I received.

Burgers basically can’t assimilate

If a burgher speaks the same language as the market language of the area they live in, they can’t assimilate. At all. Unless the culture speaks the same language. Which is not likely for an empire of any appreciable size.

This means that burghers are basically impossible to assimilate late game, as the market language is determined by the culture of the burghers…. Whose culture is locked by the market language.

Like I would get a significant speed reduction. But completely preventing assimilation? That’s asinine. Why would they make this design choice?

What is the justification for only being able to take land from a coalition leader during a coalition war??

Like. The world is scared of me and wants me cut down to size. I’m fine with that I get that.

But why does that then stop me. The massive warmongering empire, from taking the opportunity to properly stamp out the resistance against me???

Just cause it’s impolite or something???
