Starting a Shopify store with a previously owned domain – could it get suspended because of the previous owner?
Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a domain and I'm planning to launch a new Shopify store with it.
However, I'm a bit concerned about the domain's history. From what I know, the previous owner went bankrupt and had outstanding debts with Shopify Capital. I was also told that the domain was removed from Shopify before the original Shopify account was deleted.
My questions are:
Can Shopify suspend or restrict a new store because of a domain's previous history or the previous owner's debts?
Does it make a difference if the domain was disconnected from Shopify before the old account was closed?
Has anyone here successfully started a new Shopify store using a previously owned domain with no issues?
I purchased the domain legally through the normal process and have no connection whatsoever to the previous owner. I just want to make sure I won't run into problems because of the domain's past.
