Hi all,

My car COE is due in 2 years and am looking to change car.

I am often advised by seasoned car changer bro not to buy new car from car dealer as i will be paying for 'dealer premium' - i should get instead get a second hand car as there is no premium.

can any car expert explain the math / accounting behind this? will the 'premium' suddenly drop to zero if car is sold in 2nd hand market?

for someone who is concern about data privacy, is my understanding below correct?

for frontier model (openai / anthropic etc), the company building the model will have full access to your data because they own the infra that process your data. Despite them giving you the option to say no to using your data to train model, the data still goes through their data centre. The possibility of abuse and narrative engineering for violating data privacy will still be higher.

for open source model (kimi, deepseek, GLM), the cloud provider (ollama cloud, etc) is the one processing your data. The company behind those models do not actually have access to your data. Given ollama is not in the business to train model, the likelihood of data privacy violation will be lower.

hence, is it safer to use open source model with 3rd party cloud provider?
