I feel like I’m sooo picky with cdramas! With kdramas I can generally push through bc they’re 16 episodes max. But with cdramas I need to get through multiple episodes to either realise it’s ok or realise it’s not for me and drop it. I definitely do prefer dramas which get boring/fall off in the middle but seriously pick it up. (A dream within a dream, love between fairy and devil, love game in eastern fantasy)

Here’s a list of dramas I completed and dropped:

a dream within a dream ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I liked it then started to seriously hate it halfway through and now it’s probably my favourite cdrama 🤣. Loved the humour, the romance was delivered on a golden platter towards the end. >!When the FL gives in and lets herself love Nan Heng… the drama became top tier for me.!< Yes the drama felt difficult to get through in the middle when >!the mistaken identity trope gets out of control!< but when it’s resolved and when I came to terms with the FL’s reasoning behind >!holding back for so long!< and it made total sense!

LBFAD ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I liked from the start. I have a clip saved where >!Orchid (now the goddess) meets DF at the bridge and he breaks down in tears with regret and grief - the scene still makes me cry!!<

love game in eastern fantasy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I was about to drop when FL was >!under the bracelet spell!< but I’m glad I got through it. >!loved watching the two fall in love, esp the ML!<

Speed and Love 😡0 stars. It started off somewhat promising but just kept getting worse. I fell for the TikToks raving about it! RUBBISH

Pursuit of Jade ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I was addicted to this drama at first but it fell off after episode 30.

dropped:

story of a cunning palace: totally forgot this once bc pushing through this drama to ep 13 was too painful. It was boring, the ML was not hot, just crazy and Zhang Linghe felt like he was overacting (giving me the ick) when Bai Lu is acting was so much better.

when destiny brings the demon: she was chill but ml gave me the ick. Walking barefoot, the massive snake, and the other women competing with the FL were annoying. The FL, whilst lovely, wasn’t enough to keep me going.

love of the divine tree: the Fl is gorgeous but gah I hated how she was once powerful but is now weak in her reincarnation. Also the dub was throwing me off.

love you seven times: such a cute concept but whilst I loved the opening episode, I was struggling to get through the second reincarnation (he’s a really nice guy this time and she has memories of the previous life) because now he’s tied to some royal family plot. The big bad guy was also a bit boring. This one im open to continuing if urged to with compelling reasons!

how dare you! Felt heavy on the court gossip and politics, very slow first ep. I like a good slice of action, I’ll add this in. Then again I only watched ep 1, willing to try again if urged to with good reasoning!

Moonlight: cute but too slow!

hidden love: age gap is too weird

I completed the first ep of blossom but I’m scared to continue it 😭😭 I started a lot of these dropped series with high hopes but I’m tired of getting disappointed.

Searched through this sub for previous posts, but I'm looking for pieces of fiction that are award winning, classics or 'modern classics' that depict lovers or would be lovers torn apart because of war.

I really enjoyed Gone with the Wind, which was probably my first foray into this genre. I enjoyed the back and forth between Scarlett and Rhett against the backdrop of the Civil War.

I also enjoyed Brotherless Night by VV Ganeshananthan (Women's Prize for Fiction Winner). A beautiful depiction of yearning between two people who would have enjoyed a romance if it weren't for the war and conflict.

I've never read War and Peace, but I've seen the fantastic BBC 2016 adaptation twice.

I don't even need straight up historical romance - even if it's a subplot or not even central to the plot of war - that's ok. Sometimes less is more!

Translated/International Fiction is welcome.

I appreciated that about Brotherless Night and Gone With the Wind. 'Romantic' moments felt sparse at times, in BN readers are left wondering if there was anything between the characters at all until you peel back the meaning between words on a second reading.

I'm on chapter 441 of the webtoon. Chapter 437-438 were hella confusing.

I'm thinking of buying an iPad to use for watching but also for using scrivener with. I have a MacBook Air (2020) that I use mainly for writing. \

I don't really have any interest in buying a new iPad as I'll just be using it for casual writing sessions and watching. What series/model is good enough for writing though? And how much storage? 64 GB or 128?

If you can share your experiences with writing novels on iPads, even better! Thanks.

I'm looking to buy an iPad for watching films and using scrivener (writing app). I haven't had an iPad in over 10 years (last one I had was the 2012 model) so I'm unsure of what to get as I'm totally out of the loop. I mainly use my MacBook Air (2020 series) for scrivener.

Storage is important to me though. I do see myself buying a pencil or keyboard.

Would appreciate some advice on whether it's worth getting a new or refurbished iPad, if so which version?
