Hoping to witness this in Ludhiana

So, China was successful in erasing real estate gains of last two decades. As a result, house ownership became much more affordable and now young people don't have to wait till retirement for owning one.
Few days ago someone shared how ludhiana is bottom on the list in terms of wages. I can only imagine how difficult it'll be for the first time home buyers here.

What's the lore behind Guruji?

I’ve been seeing the "Blessings Always Guruji" stickers on cars everywhere lately and it got me really curious. Asking purely out of genuine interest and not trying to shame or disrespect anyone's beliefs.
Can someone explain the lore behind it? Who is Guruji and how did it get so popular here? Also, why the car stickers specifically?

I'm also wondering how the practices work, do followers have a specific religious book they read, or is it mostly ritualistic. Lastly, I've heard the term 'shahd varsha' in reels. What exactly is the story behind that occuring?

"Jurrataan di talk hundi chakkyaan di nai..." Tough boi Diljit avoiding accountability

Diljit is getting some flak for using the anti-trans slur 'chhakka' in his recent track, Aroma, just as Pride Month started.
What do you guys think about this? We've already normalised caste kanging in Punjabi songs, are we gonna let this slide too?

Why some neighbourhoods feel cooler than others?

We talk a lot about the heat in Ludhiana, but the temperature outside your door depends heavily on how your specific neighborhood was built.

I pulled this Land Surface Temperature (LST) satellite data over our city (captured by Landsat 9 on 23rd May @ 10:30 AM). If you zoom in and look purely at the urban footprint, you’ll notice distinct temperature pockets, some areas are glowing warmer (yellow/orange) while others remain cooler (green).

Few observations

  • The Affluent West (PAU, Sarabha Nagar, South City): These areas are glowing green (the coolest spots on the map except sutlej). PAU acts as a massive thermal buffer with its urban forest, and Sarabha Nagar/South City benefit from wide, mature tree canopies, large private gardens, and planned parks.
  • The Dense East/South (Shimlapuri): This area is glowing orange and red (blazing hot). It is incredibly dense and cramped, but instead of cooling shadows, it's an endless sea of concrete, tin roofs, and narrow lanes with absolutely zero space for tree canopy or airflow. But if you look in the top right of that square, you'll see a green patch attributing to Urban Oasis Effect. This green patch belongs to the territorial army cantt's green cover.
  • The Industrial Hotspots(Focal Point, Sherpur Kalan, Dhandari): Look at the areas with massive, flat warehouse roofs and wide, unshaded concrete junctions. With no tree canopy and no building shadows to protect them, these massive flat surfaces absorb most of the sun’s radiation, turning into localized ovens.
  • The Outskirts Illusion: Why fields don't cool us down Look at the rural edges of the map, they are glowing dark red and orange (the absolute hottest temperatures). Why? Because in late May, Punjab's agricultural fields are in their fallow period. The wheat is harvested, and the paddy isn't sown yet. What looks like a "green belt" on a standard map is currently just vast expanses of bare, dry dirt. Bare soil has low thermal mass and zero evapotranspiration, meaning it flash-heats into a localized desert the second the sun comes up.

When we talk about urban development, we have to talk about "green inequality." Empty agricultural land does not equal a cool climate, and a densely packed city isn't inherently a bad thing but density without vegetation turns a neighborhood into a heat trap. As summers get harsher, dense urban tree cover isn't just an aesthetic luxury for wealthy areas, it's a critical piece of public health infrastructure that the entire city needs.

TLDR(AI) : The Ludhiana Municipal Corporation has failed to open any of the mandated libraries despite a two-year-old state directive and a funding allocation of ₹64 lakh per constituency. The project has been hampered by slow fund releases from the state government and repeated tendering delays, leaving many constituencies still in the land-identification phase. While authorities are using a model from Sangrur as a reference and report that work in the West constituency is roughly 60% complete, the overall initiative to establish six libraries per constituency remains unfulfilled.
