"I should live forever then in my death. How surely the dead are beyond it. Death is what the living carry, and as I transcend with the unborn, I shall be lifted of its suffering. The wind that snuffs out the candle also feeds a fire."
One of the kitbash wardogs for my dogspam crusade list.
A little way over the crest of a small mound of earth I spy a deer. Alone it stumbles through the barren earth, its face and back twisted beyond recognition into wet and glistening red gore dripping from it like its flesh was ripped open so that bones as white as candles may hiss and steam with heat into the air.
Behind follow a stream of misshapen figures dancing to horns and drums starved as thin as branches with dirt and tattery hanging from them. I duck quickly so that they may not see me. As I do, the trees rumble as something huge emerges to the jangle of dissonant bells.
Little project to fill time between crusade armies. Are we having red base rims?
