Lately my Google Pixel 8 Pro started making the worst video ever. Meaning Gen Z quality.

I haven't changed any settings, it's the usual low light. But they are so poor in definition, colours, and transitions. When I zoom in the frames of the video flicker; I know it's supposed to be about lens transition, but how am I supposed to zoom in?

the Video Boost won't let me zoom.

I'm just kidding with my friends and saying that I am being nostalgic and using my Google Pixel 8 Pro as I was using my One Plus One back in the day when I chose to switch from iphone to Android.

But in general, does the quality get worse when the newer phone models are sent out?

Has anyone else noticed the same? The quality was not the greatest but it also wasn't this bad.

Anyone else on Pixel lose the ability to copy WhatsApp images into the Camera folder and have them sync to Google Photos?

Setup (Pixel 8 Pro):

Sometimes I receive images on WhatsApp. When I save them, they go to the WhatsApp Images folder. The only folder I sync to Google Photos is Camera. (save GB)

The workflow I used to have: copy the specific WhatsApp images I wanted (not all of them!!) into the Camera folder, and they'd show up as synced in Google Photos.

That doesn't work anymore! Google Photos finds new ways to make life harder every year.

Google photos wants me to backup all folder, including WhatsApp images into the roll. I don't want that.

I want control over my folders, not give it to the app.

What other evil features have they rolled out lately? Anyone else hit this?

On why I am using a separate gallery app instead of Google Photos:

My gallery app (not Google Photos) has hidden folders that are super handy. They aren't encrypted, which is the point: I can still send photos from them into Grindr chats. You can't do that with Google Photos' Locked Folder as it's encrypted (you would need to remove encryption, try then to find those scattered photos among all the others, very impractical)
