Who is this guy with the wolf mask and where does it originate? i was doing some digging and the oldest thing image i can find about it is from 2013. I still don't know what the image is called or where its from. I'm not sure if its a meme or from a music video from the 2000s.
Fakemink's website gives me such early 2000s internet vibes. It's so simple and feels like one of those old personal websites you'd randomly stumble across. I like that it's basically split into just two sections. His lyrics and these stories that are only one sentence. It feels more like browsing someone's notebook than a modern artist's website, and I think that's what makes it so nostalgic.

Placed towards the end of “Terrified,” the track is where the character “fakemink” has ascended out of hell and achieved enlightenment, now speaking as his true self, Enzo. He reflects back on his past relationship, in a way that sounds more like a confession than a love song.
He opens by admitting he was attracted to her because she was hurting, not despite it. “I didn’t fall for who you were, I fell for what you were in.” The whole track works like that: every tender line followed immediately by something that undercuts it. He can’t let the feeling sit without flinching.
Although the use of the “r slur” may seem controversial, it has an entirely different meaning than what you think. The word was originally a French loanword to English meaning “delay” or to be late. A “r***rd angel” literally defines as a delayed angel, like a love interest that came into fakemink’s life at the wrong time. This concept is alluded to throughout the entire song, with fakemink reminiscing on how he wasn’t able to love her properly during the time she was present in his life.
“Rét**d Angel” is significant in his discography because it is the first time the real person fully surfaces. Everything else fakemink has released, the 50+ singles of 2024, the viral momentum of “Easter Pink,” the euphoric weirdness of “MAKKA,” has been facets of an alter ego. This song is the seam where the persona breaks and something unguarded comes through. He sits inside one feeling for 3 minutes without reaching for a subject change. He admits to the savior complex, the incompatibility, and the love he kept silent. He admits he borrowed tomorrow and that cost him today.
