A fellow doll collector in the Netherlands gave them to me as a gift a really long time ago (probably 15+ years at this point, wow 😅). I've collected Sylvanian Families on and off for about that long but I've recently become really excited about them and have thought to wonder more about who these friends are. I thought I knew nothing about them but I see that someone on Instagram told me that they're Forest Friends — I'm not sure what that means? Can anyone tell me more about them? I assume they're a mother and a kid but is the kid supposed to be a boy or girl? In my collection they're a mother/daughter pair but I wonder what they were originally. And are these their original outfits? I have new outfits for them on the way from KobeeJapan because these look pretty worn, but of course I plan to keep the originals. Thanks for any info you can provide!

Not the most exciting photo and I'm not taking them out yet because I'll be moving really soon, but I got a new family for the first time in a while! I'm happy I managed to get this version instead of the one that's inexplicably missing the big sister.

I have another new family + twins on the way too. 😅

Any other whole-family collectors? I don't have any of the lone babies. Nontraditional families are great but there have to be parents or guardians haha.

I have just two sets of babies that I bought back in 2011 that don't have same-species parents because they weren't available to me at the time. The elephant twins are being fostered by my cow family until I can get the rest of their family, and I think the penguin triplets will be adopted by another family, although I haven't decided who yet.

I got my Birchly last night! I love him so much. He has so many nice textures. I named him Nils, after the lead singer of one of my favourite (Canadian!) bands.

I thought I should compare him to August, my Merrick Moose. They're honestly both so great and cuddly. I think I like Birchly's design a bit better but I love them both.

I've been in a couple times before but always had a bad experience: employees following me around the store like I was going to steal something, ignoring me when I tried to get their attention, being a bit rude when I asked a question etc. Google reviews suggest I'm not only person who has had these kinds of experiences! But I gave them one more chance and it was actually okay this time. They even let me and one other customer stay a couple minutes past closing time without comment. At that point I felt obligated to buy something. 😅 I did know that was a risk when I went to look at Jellycats in person for the first time ever! Their selection was pretty amazing and I'm very happy with the friend I brought home. I named her Blakely after a neighbourhood in my city (not where this store is located!).

Keep in mind that they're out of stock at the moment, so I have no idea if/when they will ship. But I was able to place an order for two (that's the maximum quantity) and it looks legit: official Little People storefront, sold by Amazon, eligible for return etc.

She's in fairly rough shape but I think she's fixable. Her hair will be no problem. I'm a little more worried about the face scuffs but I think I can at least make it a lot better.

I've wanted Cécile for ages. About 7 years ago I had a friend who'd found Cécile and all her outfits on Facebook Marketplace for a really great price. My friend told me she knew I was eventually going to find a great deal on Cécile too, and she was right! (open full image to see the price)
