Anyone tried Duncan Distortions with 1 meg pots?

Hey, currently looking to swap out the bridge pickup on my jaguar with a humbucker, and am stuck between the SH-5 Custom, and the SH-6 Distortion.

I really enjoy the sound of the Custom, but am a bit worried it would be too bright, and icepick-y with 1 meg pots. On the other hand, the distortion while sounding great, just has a bit too much bass, and seems like it unfortunately just muddies up the sound a bit.

My hope is that with 1 meg pots, they'll remove some of the muddiness of the Distortions, hopefully brighten up the sound overall, and add back in some articulation that might be missing. I'm not playing thrash or anything, mostly just post hardcore stuff, so super articulate pickups aren't a must, but it's definitely a huge plus.

I'm pretty new when it comes to guitar modding, and pretty much have no idea what I'm talking about when it comes to pickups, so sorry if this is a dumb question.

If you've tried it please let me know, and thanks in advance!

Anyway to fix this without completely starting over?

Hey, currently building a parts jazzmaster, and decided to paint the headstock to match the body. However, I guess I went a bit too heavy with sanding, and ended up not only blasting through the previous finish, but also into the grain filler along the top edge of the headstock, as well as a tiny bit near the bottom end close to the fretboard. This is my first time finishing anything, and I for some reason thought it would be alright to paint as is (stupid I know), and as a result, you get what you see here.

I tried adding another coat of paint to it to see if it would fill in the grain enough to make it less noticeable, but it didn't, and I don't really want to risk messing it up more.

It's not really too noticeable, especially when there's not a big red circle highlighting the problem, but every time I look at it, it just kinda bugs me, and if there's a way to fix it without stripping the paint off and starting over I would be happy to at least try. (Sorry for the bad photo, tried to capture the problem as best as I could).

Thanks!

Anyone have long-term experience with MJT bodies?

Hey, currently building a parts jazzmaster, and I've been eying this body made by MJT. It's the cheapest nitro finished guitar body that I can find (since it's being auctioned off on ebay), but I'm a bit worried about the quality of their finishes.

I strum super hard, like unreasonably so, and while I do want it to age overtime, I've heard some people say that the finish will flake off if you breathe on it too hard, and I don't want a completely reliced guitar after playing a few songs. Same goes for the checking, while I do want it to check at some point, I'd rather have it happen over the span of a few years, instead of a few months.

I was wondering if there are any long term owners of parts guitars made with an MJT body who could share their experience. How long it takes to check, if people are exaggerating the fragility of their finishes, and if possible, other nitro finished guitar bodies that are under 300, and a bit more durable than those made by MJT. Thanks!

This might be a stupid question but I was wondering if anyone has tried it/if it's possible. I've never owned a jazzmaster, and I'm currently planning a parts build for my first. I do however have a jaguar, and have always thought it'd be a lot more practical to have the bridge wired to the rhythm circuit, as opposed to the neck, to cut some of the harsh highs that are often present in jaguar/jazzmaster bridge positions. Going into building my first parts guitar in general, I'm just thinking of ways to customize it to something that would fit closer to the sound I'm going for, and was wondering if anyone has had experience with this sort of mod. Thanks!
