If you could travel back in time and give your old self advice, what would you say ?

Running form ? Nutrition? Habits to develop early ? Mistakes to avoid ? Injury prevention ? …..

Beginner chasing sub 40 10k

So I’ve been running for about 2 months now and I’ve gone from 55 minutes on my first ever 10K to around 42:40 on my latest time trial. I’ve heard that the more experienced you get, the harder it becomes to take significant chunks of time off your PB. So I wanted to ask the guys here what your progression looked like when you were chasing a sub40 10K ? How quickly were you able to improve, and where did you start to notice the gains slowing down? For context I’m 1.88m, 65kg, and naturally pretty explosive over shorter distances. So far, my body has been adapting really well to running, and I’m curious to see how much more I can improve.

Sub 45 10k after 2 months of consistent running

When I started running in June my first 10K was 55 minutes and at the time that felt like a huge accomplishment. Fast forward 2 months and I’ve almost taken 15 minutes off that time. Just a reminder that anything is possible when you truly put your mind to it no matter how big the goal is. Don’t listen to people who tell you your goals are unrealistic. If you believe in them and are willing to put in the work I truly believe you can surprise even yourself. I was smoking every day for 6 years and my cardio was terrible. I couldn’t even compete in basketball at the level I used to. Now I’m running faster than I ever thought I could. This is your sign to not give up and continue grinding.

chasing sub 20 after 1 week of running

I managed to cut out nearly 2mins in 9 days of running off my 5km. Idk if it’s because beginners progress much faster but what are some little tips that you found for cutting out extra time off ?

angry father

My father has always been the anxious / angry type of guy. Sometimes, I even feel like some of his traits were partially passed down on me. When I used to live with him ( when my parents were still together ), he would often slap me in the head or yell at me. Now i’m going to be 20 years old soon. The majority of my contact with him is through video call, and from time to time I still feel the anger through the screen, although not as intense. We had a word fight today, he really ended up pissing me off and for the first time I said to him what I had in my mind - that his bad relationship with my mom, his depression, and other factors were not my fault and has nothing to do with me and I don’t want nothing to do with it. He continued arguing so I hang up on his face. I don’t know what to do for the future. Cutting all contact with him makes me sad, because I know all this is from unresolved trauma he has, plus he’s still my dad after all. But I can’t tolerate this shit. Genuinely what do I do.
