Help: New Kitchen Design!

We are doing a renovation next month and will be fully removing the old kitchen. We plan on demolishing the wall and bathroom currently separating the kitchen from living room to make it one open space. I’m attaching an overhead sketch of the space (demo wall marked in orange X’s), current image of the room, and virtual mock-ups of our initial idea.

Please share your wisdom! ☺️

Edit to add:

  1. The virtual mock-ups are ONLY for layout. They do not reflect color/lighting/cabinet door selection/flooring/window style/appliance choice or even

accurate

  1. ceiling height.
  2. We initially thought to keep the sink in the island to utilize existing plumbing (same logic for the stove), but are looking into what’s involved for moving those.

Help! New Kitchen Layout

We are doing a renovation next month and will be fully removing the old kitchen. 1. Do you think it’s ok to have the cooktop where it’s shown in the virtual display? (There is already a gas fireplace there so we were planning to take advantage of that.)
  2. Is the side with the fridge too long?
  3. Which direction do you think the island should go (parallel or perpendicular to the room)?

Thanks!!

Is this my body now?

Almost 2 weeks postpartum from my second c-section. I’m 5’5 and was 120lbs at the start, I gained 28lbs with both pregnancies. I’m now 127lbs but my body looks like this! It’s freaking me out since I “bounced back” pretty much immediately after my first (8lb 6oz baby) and naively assumed this (10lb 6oz) would be the same.

Is there hope I’ll get my body back? What is even still in there? Any experiences or tips are welcome. Feeling down about the emergency c section and now my recovery too. 🫤

Thanks for reading!

40+5 hoping for a VBAC

Looking for advice/positive stories in this situation as I’ve been feeling pretty down. I have tried every possible home remedy to get this baby moving and I’m feeling physically and mentally exhausted. For weeks (months?) I’ve been drinking the tea, eating dates, doing yoga+walking daily, having crazy Braxton hicks, eating pineapple and spicy foods when I can, getting acupuncture and massages, resting, and doing the miles circuit.

I went to my doctor last week after hitting my due date and was told my cervix was still closed and we couldn’t do a membrane sweep even if we wanted to. Add to that my baby is tracking large (per ultrasound they actually had my estimated due date two weeks early) which didn’t help with my expectations for when this baby would come. My first also came a week early. Top it off with the current heatwave we’ve been having, friends/family constantly asking for upstates, and I woke up with a sore throat/stuffy nose yesterday. How can I keep a positive mindset? Is there anything left for me to do? Thanks for reading!

For more context, tried to go unmedicated, but had a (imo possibly unnecessary) c-section with my first (failure to progress in the US after laboring for 16hrs). She was OP, i came to the hospital at 4cm but only moved to 6cm from 7am to 4pm at which point they gave me pitocin and things spiraled from there. My doctor this time is very supportive of me attempting a vbac but I can’t shake the feeling I am running out of time.
