Salzburg with kids

We are in the early planning stages of a trip next June. It will be my parents in their sixties, my husband and I, and our two kids (7 and 9). Anyone have recommendations on where to stay? Or just areas to stay? I’m pretty lost on where to start. Budget is pretty flexible. Open to both in the city and outskirts if we can easily get to things via public transport or uber.

Kinderhotel in Austria/Switzerland/Germany

We are in the early planning stages of a trip for next June flying in/out of Munich. Kids will be 9 and 7. We will spend several days in Salzburg. Then myself, husband and children want to do a cool Kinder hotel while my parents go to Vienna. Then we’ll meet back in Munich. Really open to any area that we can get to/from Salzburg and Munich by train. We *could* rent a car if someone really convinced me, but I’d prefer not to. Any recommendations I could put on the list?

Tick ID. SE Wisconsin

My husband found this on my 6yo daughter today. He didn’t tell me until after. He took it off easily.

Algarve in March

We are considering our first trip to Portugal for spring break (mid-March) next year. We will have a 7yo and 9yo. We will definitely stay in Lisbon and Sintra for a couple of days. My husband travels for work a ton, has a gazillion Hilton points, and the Conrad Algarve gets amazing reviews. I’m hesitant though because of the weather. I don’t want to book it and regret going to a “beach vacation” destination when it’s not warm enough to go to the beach.

What else would there be to do in that area? If we’re lucky and get pool weather, great, but I’m not going to bank on that. I’d rather get everyone excited about other things and be surprised if the weather ends up nice.

We love walking, restaurant hopping, reasonable hikes (obviously we have smaller kids), shopping, and exploring towns. How do people get around? Rent a car? Uber? We love city travel so Lisbon is totally up our alley, but a relaxing resort with large rooms also sounds nice for a few days in there. Any advice??

Travel pass

I’m so confused by TravelPass. Every time we’ve traveled abroad before, when we land and turn on our phones it automatically says it will charge you the flat rate ($10 or $12) for days you use any text/data. No problem paying that.

But now I’m trying to figure it out and it seems it’s not automatic and I have to add it before we go. It won’t let me add it because my dad is the account manager. They are currently on vacation and he doesn’t have his passwords. I’m at a loss for what to do. When we arrive in Europe Monday morning will it automatically connect and we can pay the flat daily rate?

Medical insurance overseas

We leave tomorrow for Paris from the US and I have never purchased medical insurance before. But after seeing horror stories I want to. We have the top tier United card which does have a lot of benefits (including medical evacuation). The plan I’m thinking doesn’t include reimbursement for trip costs, which is fine. Flights and hotels were purchased with points so it’s no skin off our back. These prices seem too good to be true though… any thoughts??

- 39.22 per person
- 1,000,000 in accident and sickness medical expense
- 500 emergency dental
- 1,000,000 medical evacuation
- natural disaster and security evacuation 100,000

I may be looking for something that doesn’t exist…

My husband and I are parents and in our mid 30’s. We’re coming in a few weeks without the kids. We love good cocktails and some nightlife, but definitely not typical clubs with house music. Any place that often has good throwbacks? Or live music to dance to? Thanks!
