Is this up to code?

Had a rewire done before I moved into my house. Didn't know much beforehand but upon review, this looks wrong to me due to the horizontal run not being in line with the box and the 90degree turn to the oven socket (pictures captured by my partner who had to move in early). Every other part of the install looks totally fine, just this bit in the kitchen seems odd. If it is out of spec, what can be done to remedy it? The job was done and paid for 2 months ago so getting them back likely isn't an option.

How to dry a wet wall

Hey folks, we've been in our new house for 2 months and this whole time we didn't realise the bath seal was completely gone as it had been covered up with some of that cheap trim tape (that had little no no actual seal). So every time we were taking a shower, some amount of water was getting to the wall.

We had a rewire done before we moved in and we found out the hard way about the issue because the plaster around a new socket (that is on the other side of the wall from the bath) had blown a bit.

That socket has been isolated and a neighbour came to the rescue with a dehumidifier but it's been 2 days now and the moisture level has barely dropped. We fixed the gap with some Unibond Silicone Sealant and made sure to fill the bath up before applying and keep it that way for the full 24hr cure time.

Realistically, how long will this take to dry and is there anything I can do to speed it up?

How to redecorate these walls

Hey all, just bought my first house and looking to redecorate.

Underneath the ancient wallpaper (which is coming off easily at least) is lathe & plaster walls with what I assume is lime plaster, given the property was built in the 1940s. There's also a white skim coat on top and that's what's got me stuck.

From what I've read, modern latex paints are a no go for lime plaster, however this white skim coat seems uncharacteristic of lime.

Is it lime or is it some bog standard non-lime-based skim coat that I may as well put latex paints on?

Also, the walls all appear to have distemper paint on them - it's yellow and rubs off on my fingers like dusty chalk. Any tips on how to get this shit off would be greatly appreciated.

No suggestions of over boarding please. I'm willing to go down the replastering route but I'd rather leave it as is. Construction is standard cavity wall.
