Campsites in Chamonix

Hello, due to unforeseen circumstances leading to us to end our TMB early, we have a few extra days we were hoping to stay in Chamonix. We were originally going to camp the whole TMB so we will have our tents with us.

Any recommendations on good campsites in or around Chamonix preferably in so we can get in town quicker.

Day Hike Suggestions (TMB can't be completed)

Hey all,

I posted here 2 days ago about my partner being sick while we were in Courmayeur. She's thankfully recovered after 48 hours and we've done a great stage from Courmayeur to Val Ferret.

Balcony views absolutely stunning.

Of course, when it rains it pours. The third member of our group is now vomiting. We no longer have any viable extra days to rest and there's no transport that I know of that can take us into Switzerland. So we've had to call an end to our TMB attempt this time around 😭 truely heartbroken.

But I want to make the best out of the next 5 days, I want to do day hikes! And I want to hear the best ones you know of around the area.

I'm currently in Camping Grand Jorasses but flexible to travel for hikes! Any suggestions appreciated!

(Also added one of my favourite photos from day 2)

Partner sick on tour - need help with alternatives

A bit heartbroken and stressed as we have planned this trip (as you all know the felling) for months in advanced. We're 4 days out of 10 into a counterclockwise camping TMB and having a great time until yesterday my partner suffered from relatively severe heat exhaustion to the point she was having fevers, vomiting and having diarrhoea overnight. We were well protected from the sun, cap and sun hoodies all day but we were at elevation with minimal shade.

She was so weak and dehydrated we had to taxi from La Chapieux to Courmayeur to see a doctor and check her into a hotel to sleep. We have a programmed rest day today in courmayeur anyway so we have another 24 hours of rest but I'm just planning ahead in case she isn't ready to walk by tomorrow.

Have attached our itinerary, we are on day 6 tomorrow. Original plan was to hike from Courmayeur to Chalet Val Ferret and on camping at Grand Jorasses. If we need another day, we can bus to the campsite to continue next day.

But if she doesn't get any better, is it time to call it? Any suggestions on towns that are cheaper to hang out while she recovers? We have plans to go to Zermatt and Zurich after the 12th so ideally we don't cancel the entire trip if it comes to it.

Any other suggestions along the rest of the itinerary where buses may help shorten days are welcome too.

Thanks so much, in a bit of a stressful situation. Appreciate any input.

My fav. photos from Leon to Santiago

Had a bit of a run of bad weather last 2 weeks, single digits in Celcius, wet and rainy all but 2 days but we got welcomed into Santiago with brilliant sunshine!

We did this as non religious walk and had a lot of fun and met so many interesting and beautiful people!

Here's some of my favourite shots.

Thank you for all the advice on here!

Buen Camino everyone! (Don't forget to say it even if you start in Sarria!!)

Hello fellow pilgrims,

I have tried to find answers from previous threads but haven't managed.

Essentially, my partner and I are currently in Barcelona. We will train to Leon and stay there the night before we start our Camino.

We're staying in an Airbnb type place (confirming whether there is a reception right now).

Our plan is to bus to Hospital de Orbigo and officially start walking to Astorga.

Now since we've been travelling we have a bigger pack we'd like to send ahead of us, here comes my dilemma and confusion:

Since we aren't in a pilgrim accommodation the night we're in Leon, I'm not sure if Pilbeo or other luggage transfer services can pick up from there. The other option would be, we take the bus with our bags, drop off the bag at an alburgue in Hospital, but I've also read things have to be organised before the morning of for a lot of companies.

Any suggestions? Would dropping it off somewhere the night we're in Leon be helpful?
