Why did you choose the Bronco over its competitors—and would you do it again?

I’m in the market for a highly capable and dependable daily driver that is also an adventure vehicle, and the Ford Bronco Badlands and 6th-gen 4Runner are at the top of my list.

A little background: I’ve owned a 1987 VW Vanagon Westfalia for years, and it’s shaped what I value in a vehicle—versatility, capability, character, and a strong enthusiast community. I’m exploring what a modern, dependable daily driver and adventure vehicle might look like for life in Colorado, where mountain driving, trails, camping, and everyday practicality all matter.

I’ve spent plenty of time researching and comparing vehicles, but there’s only so much you can learn from specs and reviews. What I’m really interested in is the human side of these decisions:

  1. What other vehicles did you seriously consider, and what ultimately tipped the scales toward the Bronco?

  2. What has surprised you most (good or bad) after living with the Bronco?

  3. What did you knowingly give up, and what justified giving it up?

  4. Knowing what you know now, would you make the same choice again?

I’d especially love to hear from anyone who was genuinely torn between the Bronco Badlands and 4Runner, or another vehicle.

Thanks for sharing your experiences!
