Got around to framing my IMAX strips
Hey guys, felt kinda proud of myself so I wanted to share this project. :)
Visited a friend in Toronto recently and managed to pick up some IMAX strips of The Dark Knight Rises, one of my personal favorites. The frame, backing, and mounting corners finally arrived, so I used my free time this weekend (hiding from the burning 41°C heat here in Germany in complete darkness lol) to prep it for wall mounting.
I basically went semi-archival on this. Acid-free (double) backing, UV-protective glass, and archival corners. I actually mounted them with the emulsion layer facing the acid-free backing so only the durable plastic base touches the glass (although not fully because i put in some tiny spacers just to be safe). Untortunately, this means the images (and the IMAX logo) are mirrored when looking at them right now. I just really wanted the peace of mind knowing the delicate emulsion wouldn't stick to the glass in a few years and destroy the strips, even if there is a tiny gap between the two. I'm the type of guy who puts on a solid black background on his OLED devices to extend the life and prevent burn-ins.
Let me know what you think!
