Got the card to get KD2* installed - would you recommend?

KD2 made a major difference in the stability of the car. It seems like KD2* may not be an improvement but it’s hard to tell. Based on your experience with the new update, would you recommend going ahead with it?

We compared the everyday costs of running an EV, a hybrid, and a gas car and the result left us incredibly surprised

This is an interesting but at least in my experience, misleading article. It compares the costs of owning a Model Y, Prius and gas Corolla in California and Florida. The conclusion

is that in California, the Tesla would have the highest operating costs, followed by the Corolla and then the Prius. This is driven by a $3600 insurance bill for the Tesla that dwarves the Toyotas.

In Florida, the Tesla would be cheapest to operate while the Corolla and Prius cost about the same. The Tesla benefits from low energy costs in Florida while insurance is insanely expensive for all three.

Here’s the thing though. I live in LA and have a 2024 Ioniq 5 and a 2025 Audi Q6 Etron and my TOTAL annual insurance bill is $4000. $1300 for the Hyundai and $2600 for the Audi.

In my case, based on the math in the article, the Hyundai would blow the Toyotas out of the water and the Audi would be cheaper than the Corolla and a little more expensive than the Corolla, but only a few hundred, which is not much considering the Audi is in a completely different class.

Two conclusions:

  1. The article is somewhat misleading because it uses a car that has insurance costs way out of line with other EVs. This perpetuates incorrect information about EVs that they have high insurance costs.

  2. Teslas may be excellent EVs, but at least with insurance costs, other options may be significantly better bets

So, what do you think about the article. Note depreciation is not factored in the analysis.

MyAudi app not showing charge status while charging

So the app will refresh and show updated car status and location, but while I am charging, it does not show that the car is charging and estimated time to the target and the like.

This is a recent thing. Does anyone else have this issue where the app is not showing charging information?

Has KD2 changed your opinion of the Q6?

Probably jinxing myself but I got it a couple of months ago and I have to say it really helped resolve most of the annoyances that made the car less appealing. When everything is sorted this is quite a nice car to drive.

Asking this because I know there is a fair amount of negativity surrounding the Q6 and the new slate of Audis in general but I feel like resolving the biggest bugs changes the perception.

Would be even better if we were able to get the infotainment upgrades like having maps in the driver display but I’m not holding my breath.

Rear tailgate closing with a thud. Is there a way to reset?

When I close the tailgate, it does not “click” and lock like it normally does. It does open and close but it is not right. I’m not even sure the car is truly locked. Has anyone else had this issue? Do I need to take it to the dealer or can it be reset somehow?

I do have KD2 btw.
