John Travolta in Broken Arrow kinda looks like...

...Jerry Seinfeld?!

Look, I'm sure plenty of people will disagree, but I just watched it tonight for the first time (deliciously hammy) and there parts in it where he really reminded me of Seinfeld. Like a more buff, less wimpy, bizarro Jerry Seinfeld.

I've seen plenty Travolta flicks and the thought never occurred to me before, so it must be something about his character in Broken Arrow.

I've included the still, but will say that it was noticable mostly in his facial expressions.

Anyway, fun movie! Watched it with my go-to buddy for these types of movies and we had a blast.

Didn't care much for most of John Woo's other films, but this one had something going for itself.

My idea is to stop forcing recommended subs on the users

So apparently the option to opt out of getting recommendations in your home feed was removed.

Please reinstate it. I don't want to be forced to look at posts from subs I don't follow.

Thanks!

Waiting for better transfers

I'm nearing a point at which I own all the tv shows that I'm interested in and that are available on Bluray (Got the Office Superfan box set preordered, was holding off on the regular set).

One show I refuse to pull the trigger on though is The Sopranos. And that's because the first few seasons look especially dated, even in HD.

Feels like a prime candidate for a 4K remaster and a logical choice too, since it's such a popular and well regarded show.

I'm in no hurry to do a rewatch, so it's not a problem for me to wait it out some more.

You got any movies or shows that you're still waiting on a fresh rescan before purchasing?

I think I missed a chance to expand my social circle yesterday

So, I'm a movie guy. I love the cinema and try to go as often as I can. It's a bit of a drive/train ride, because I live in a small town close to a major city and I like to watch movies undubbed (EU fella here).

Yesterday, I went there again to watch a 20th anniversary screening of the anime Paprika by myself. When I arrived at my seat (I always book the same one when it's still available, it's my favorite lol) there were already a few people sitting in the seats next to me.

I had a short interaction with the guy beside me, as he was about to move his popcorn bucket out of the way, but I told him there's no need. I sat down, got comfortable and then a girl a few seats down the row leaned over and asked me if I was part of their group.

I said 'Umm, no'. Not in an unfriendly way or anything, just matter of factly, because I wasn't.

Now I'm kinda regretting not saying more or asking what kind of group they were. It seemed like they didn't know each other all that well and maybe just formed through some online thing or something. They looked like real nice people too, kinda nerdy, which is to be expected at a Japanese-language screening of an anime lol

Damn that social awkwardness!!

The only kind of handheld device I want does not seem to exist (yet)

Edit: Just wanted to say thanks y'all for the many replies! I think the Retroid 6 sounds like the best option for me right now, as there is a variant with the d-pad placed above the thumbstick, which is very important to me. Going to have to do a bit of research how the Linux emulation works exactly but overall seems like it's the way to go until a more plug&play option emerges.

Original post:

I'm an avid Steam user and love my gaming pc. My library is pretty big at this point and there's still loads of games on my wishlist.

I'd love to make use of the advantage of having such a library to use on a handheld device, because I'm into lo-fi, retro/arcade-styled games, but I've come to realize that I don't really enjoy playing those games on a big screen from the couch.

I'm perfectly aware of some of the handheld pcs and Linux-based devices out there, but they are either too big, have bad stick/d-pad placement and they are usually very expensive as well.

My idea of the perfect handheld (for my use case) would be a device the size of a Switch Lite, with a good d-pad in prime position, face button layout Nintendo style (A on the right, B on the bottom) and SteamOS or Windows based. I wouldn't care if it was a bit underpowered, I don't want to play the heavy hitters on there anyway, that's what the pc/tv setup is for.

I just want to be able to play simple pixel art games on the go comfortably.

I can't be the only one, right? But to the best of my knowledge and research, there just isn't a handheld to match those criteria. At least not yet.
