How's it like working FSE for Varian or Elekta in the states

I work in house service for both varian and elekta linacs up here in canada and was thinking about transitioning into being into an FSE preferably with Varian. But id go with Elekta if there happens to be a very lucrative opening.

Unfortunately both Elekta and Varian doesnt seem to be hiring any linac FSEs at the moment in Canada so Im starting to eye ball some job openings in the states.

I hoping any current FSEs could share with me which part of the states are you from, what the day to day job looks like, how many linacs/sites do you look after, how much OT do you get on average and if you'd recommend someone like me making the jump from in house to FSE.

Ive been working on both varian and elekta for a couple years nows. I really like the technology and decided that the natural progression to continuing to learn and get better at servicing these machines is to go into a FSE position.

P.S

If theres any Varian of Elekta recruiters out there, feel free to hit me up 👀

Toronto, Canada. What can I do about my employer saying my 12% raise was ok only for them to back track and say i could only recieve a 3% raise.

Back in November/December I had began salary negotiations with my employer. After a bit of back snd forth, my direct supervisor said that the head of out department agreed to 12% raise but that the process is slow and would take a bit of time. I agreed to it and said that I was happy with the raise and that I am okay with the process.

The reason for this raise comes in 2 parts.

  1. my performance was been exceptional and my currently reflected my performance

  2. we have a new hire that i have been helping train. I have 2 more years of experience than him. The issue is that my current rate and his current rate is too close and does not reflect my seniority at the company.

Since then, I have bugged my supervisor to please reach out to our department head as it was taking longer than I expected and I was continously ensured that he would speak to him about it.

About 3 weeks ago I was informed that my raise has finally been finalized however I would no longer be receiving the original 12% rather, i would be receiving a 3% raise. The reason I was giving was that HR could not approve the 12% raise and they could only say yes to 3%.

Today, I spoke with my Jr coworker and found out that he recieved a 5% raise. This makes completely no sense to me as now the gap between our wages is actually smaller than what is was originally.

I feel absolutely betrayed and completely pissed off at my current employers. Having been promised a 12% raise temporarily stopped me from looking for a new job for the last 7 months.
