Worth holding out for a SBGA483? Or go with currently available SBGY011,SBGA211 or SBGA465G?

I really like this watch SBGA483, the oomiya 44gs snowflake.

However I can't really find it available. At the moment there's one listing from Japan, but it has been re-polished on a buffing wheel rather than zaratsu repolishing by GS.

The other models I like (although the SBGA483 is my favourite so far) are:

SBGY011 Asaborake 44gs manual wind spring drive,

SBGA211 regular version of snowflake with titanium different shaped case

SBGA465G

All are readily available today.

Should I hold out for an unpolished SBGA483, or pick one of the other more readily available options?

Does regular repolishing round over edges to irreversibly affect future zaratsu repolishing?

I was wondering if a GS watch with a 44gs case was repolished, but not with the hard tin plate used with the zaratsu technique but I stead the usual soft abrasive buffing wheel, would that round the edges over and make it so It is not possible or difficult to get a crisp zaratsu back on it again with proper repolishing? For example if the edges are too rounded over so the crisp corners are lost.

I ask as there is a watch I've been looking for a while (SBGA483 oomiya limited snowflake), and there is a listing on eBay and rakuten (I think the same watch from the same Japanese seller, resold on eBay)

But this watch is listed as repolished. I was wondering if it would be possible to buy this watch and have GS repolish it with the correct zaratsu technique, or if it would have rounded corners or other artifacts from the buffing wheel polishing it's already supposedly undergone?

Thank you,

First large online watch puchase. Anyone have any issues ordering Grand Seikos from Japan?

I've fallen in love with a watch, only it's very expensive (for me) and also only available from Japan (I live in the UK). I've never made a purchase this large for a goods delivered by postage.

Does anyone have any advice or stories of thier expirence ?

Do all grand Seiko with this dial type have iridescent/rainbow shimmer?

I noticed on my SBGV207 that the dials shimmer in rainbow colours under bright light, and a darker oil type iridescent spectrum in lower light.

I was wondering do all GS with this dial type have this property? For example the SBGA483 ,

Which grand Seiko dials do and don't have this kind of iridescent shimmer?

Best case shape for a snowflake on leather strap?

I am wanting to buy a snowflake, and am looking at the different cases available. I am also intending to wear with a leather strap, maybe white or red suede or smooth leather.

Any recommendations?

I want to get into modding. Is there a recommended starter kit for tools and source for high quality parts?

Hi,

I wanted to try and build my first watch, but I am completely new to modding. I have an idea for what I want but nothing felt quite right available within my price range, so I thought I would try put one myself for a fun project and maybe future hobby.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good source for the tools and learning I will need to put together components.

I was also wondering if anyone could recommend a supplier for high quality components with food finishing?

Thank you!

Is it possible to buy cases simmilar to Grand Seiko 44gs or Seiko pressage sharp edged series?

Are there any dials available on the market simmilar to Grand Seiko snowflake?

I was looking to get a snowflake but basically can't afford it, so was looking to see if I could build something simmilar. I was wondering if there were any aftermarket dials witha similar texture to the snowflake?

37mm Vs 40/41mm on 18cm wrist, which snowflake to go for?

I've been looking at possibly getting a snowflake and I tried one in 37mm and 41mm titanium side by side. I was wondering which is better suited for my particular wrist size? For reference last photos show the 37mm alongside a 40mm heritage 44gs I am currently using as daily on leather strap. I am thinking of wearing the snowflake on a leather strap also.

I found this watch buckle that I quite like and want to pair with my 40mm heritage. The design and polishing is very nice I think.

There's a few of these for sale around (although very overpriced), 18mm buckle -ADOYSSAOOB.

I was wondering why it says not to use these with leather in some listings? I know that the silicone strap has some cutouts for this buckle to grip into, but I don't see if there would be an issue using thism.
