My VP’s contribution to almost every meeting includes mentioning that “Senior Leadership has been asking about the status of this” to create a false sense of urgency

It doesn’t matter what the meeting is about, the project, or the deadlines. At some point, our VP will inevitably jump in to remind everyone that senior leadership is asking about the project and wants an update, as if that somehow creates urgency, and it’s usually their only contribution to the discussion.
