I've been keeping isopods for a few years but I've had pretty much 0 luck with any Armadillidium species. i have great luck with all of my other species but i haven't been able to successfully keep A.vulgare or A.peraccae. they are eating and acting fine but they don't breed at all. I've had my A.peraccae for a while and not many have died but they only bred in the beginning and haven't for a very long time. both i have are in a slightly damp (for A.vulgare) and slightly dryer (A.peraccae) enclosures with good ventilation, cork bark, dirt without any fertilizer or perlite, sphagnum moss on one side, and magnolia leaves. im trying to figure out what i can do differently if you can help me!!!

i posted a bit ago showing her off aswell as asking if anyone has an idea of what could be wrong with her eyes. today we took her to the vet and learned some stuff! first is that she is a confirmed female and exactly 24 inches from head to tail! second is that she is perfectly healthy! third is that her left eye (the completely black one) is blind! the vet said that her eye is extremely dilated and she may have had trauma in the past or she was born like that. i asked my friend who had her the last 4 years about it and she asked her dad who's got it from someone else. the dad said the people he got the snake from were very "sketchy" and wanted to get rid of it quickly. no matter what this snake has been through im really happy to have her! she's very sweet and calm and likes to hang out in my hoodie
