I’m worried this has ruined pike fishing for me for the foreseeable future

Hey everyone, I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask but I caught this fella last weekend- has anyone seen this before or know what could’ve happened? Thanks! The skin was sealed, no open wound on either side.
