At the company I work at, we pull some of our inventory and set it aside to go out the next day. We write these numbers down on sticky notes rather than having to carry paperwork around while working with palletjacks and boxes. Some time after we pull said inventory, someone will come and verify what we pulled so it matches with the computer side. Tonight this happened to be my branch Operations manager.

I also happen to be doing some extra work since my departments workload is pretty low right now. Outdoor work with physical labor while wearing a sorta heavy vest. When I return to the branch just before our inventory pull is finished, I am VERY sweaty and hot.

Im waiting around for our numbers to be verified and our manager comes around to check it out while im not looking and listening to The Yard™ podcast. Im still sweaty so I decide to untuck my polo and undershirt, then adjust my belt and pants to get some fresh air on my back. My manager says behind me

“Can i get your sticky?” Referring to the sticky note so he can make sure the numbers match the pull.

Me, not hearing him, I was focused on 3 white men with mics, “Whats up?”

Manager “Your sticky?”

Me, knowing im sweaty asf and visibly adjusting myself, and knowing we joke around a bit so i thought he was joking at me still being sweaty:

“Yeah, a lil bit.” With a chuckle and sarcastic tone.

He paused for a sec and then said “No, the sticky note”

I panicked and said “yea uhhhh i thinks its somewhere over here” going to our desk and handing it to him.

I dont know if he realized what I said but I sure as hell do and i pray to whatever god exists that he didnt.

TLDR I told my manager i was sticky but he just wanted a sticky note.

I think ill put this in NBD, its not a day ruiner and i wont be thinking about it tomorrow (probably) and i cant see it as lowkey a good thing.
