shield wall clear speed?

Question for anyone who has taken a shield wall build deep into the endgame - how is the clear speed compared to other builds like ice shot, whirling assault, spark, etc? I'm thinking of trying shield wall + nebuloch mace in 0.5.5 for bossing, but concerned that mapping is going to be too slow. Is something like Herald of Fire or Witch Hunter Zealous Inquisition a must-have for clear? Thanks
