Tiny bottles at daycare

Baby started daycare 3 weeks ago, and is now almost 5 months old. I was loading the fridge today and was astounded to see that the bottles for other similar aged infants were 6-8 oz each (formula). Our baby feeds 2-3 oz at most, and at daycare he’s so distracted he tends to eat 2 or even 1 oz every 2 hours or so. He also very clearly communicates “I’m done” (pushes away bottle or pops off breast and starts looking around).

I’m not worried about him since he’s 91st percentile, and as his pediatrician calls him, “a good eater”. It’s still astounding how much this differs between babies and between breast and formula. I only pump around 3-4 oz each time, so would never be able to supply that much anyway!

Interested to hear the volumes your breastfed babies eat via bottle!

Daycare naps

Hi all! My 4 month old just started daycare. He’s sleeping 20-30 minutes once or twice at best, whereas at home he has one long (2h) and 2 shorter (30-60min) naps during the day. He makes up for it by having a 1h nap when we pick him up.

Daycare asked if we can have him sleep in his crib at home.. but as a breastfeeding mom, this would change the nights a lot (not for the better). He currently has 2 feeds overnight and falls asleep immediately after when cosleeping. My husband sleeps on baby’s other side and barely wakes up at night because baby almost never cries.

Also, we are sad that parental leave is over and are making up for it with contact naps and snuggles overnight… is this really something we should give up? Will baby learn to sleep at daycare without us adjusting his night time environment?

Nursing baby is going to daycare- any tips?

Hi all! I would love to hear your experiences transitioning from almost exclusively nursing to daycare. My baby is almost 4 months old and accepts bottles.

My supply has been enough for the baby over the last 3 months or so and I have pumped sometimes to get to exercise classes etc.

Did you have any issues with supply?
-I plan to pump every 3 hours, which my work will accommodate. I have a blue spectra and a eufy portable pump. I haven’t been an over/under producer, so my freezer stash is only about 15 oz right now.

Can you share your workflow for preparing bottles for daycare?

Any tips or wisdom you’re able to share that makes this transition easier would be appreciated! I have a week of overlap between maternity leave and starting daycare.
