Not impressed with the original ~6h in, does it expand or am I safe to drop it?

So I'm a big fan of hr and md, played them several times over. The original deus ex I always wanted to get into but various technical problems always put me off.

Recently I've been on an immersive sim spree and finally gave it a real shot. I'm now at the part where I have to track down the nsf in the subway network and am feeling like the game is janky and clunky but doesnt seem to have any mechanical depth to compensate for it. I'm curious if this improves later on or this is just the game?

Gameplay wise the newer games just feel like net upgrades. I always had the impression the original was much more rpg-y and in-depth, but besides weapon skills it seems to be outright simpler. All levels are just talk to everyone, walk around everywhere and slap the bad guys with a baton to knock them unconscious. I guess the augs could make things more interesting but so far I only found one for heavy lifting/more melee.

Story wise it's pretty interesting but I can't say the game gripped me yet and knowing that the sequels are in the future kinda reduces my interest in how it all plays out.

Do I have the wrong read, does the game really expand at some point? Or is the early game representative?

Shout out to the switch 2 port of SS2

I've never played the game despite hearing a lot about it and wanting to play it, especially as a fan of deus ex and the new prey. Last week I saw it on a sale on the switch 2 and was really craving a new game, and was preparing for a super janky buggy full of crashes experience like most of these old pc game ports tend to be on console and especially the switch.

Much to my surprise the game runs very smoothly, is pretty and sharp and the game plays very well on controller. It even has joycon mouse controls. Played it every day since I bought it and beat it today, and damn it was really good. I was never a huge fan of that half life to half life 2 era of shooters, always found them too repetitive, but this game's exploration, datalogs and RPG elements add a lot to the experience and make it probably my favourite fps of the 90s/early 00s.

Also as a sidenote, that was an incredibly goofy final scene for how serious of a game this was lol

[PC] Is there any way of turning dynamic scaling on during combat only?

I know on PS5 that's the behaviour, where it lowers the resolution but only during the combat sequences. I'd like to do the same on pc, I don't want to make the game blurry outside of the combat but during it I'd like to get it locked at 120 and need the scaling for that.
