Achieved Platinum!!!

The cinematic fights are really beautiful. The combat system was really good with so many combo options. Ending was totally heartbreaking.

FFXVI changes I’d like:

Going through my annual playthrough of this game and gosh I just love it so much. BUT! There are things that I wish they would have done differently to make it even better. Obviously I’m no game dev so this is just a fun little list I came up with of things I did miss in the game and that definitely lent to some of the valid criticisms. Below are some of my ideas and would love to hear what others think and what you wish they would have implemented:

—I really can’t think of any story changes or anything major

—ELEMENTS! You have access to all the elements and they don’t mean anything. It would have been really interesting having weaknesses and immunities and what not. Imagine Clive only having the Phoenix abilities early game and comes across a fire bomb—you’d really have to think about strategy. I don’t think anything crazy but why have us change elements if they don’t mean anything.

—Status conditions! They didn’t need to be crazy but they could have gone the route of FFXV and implemented confusion, toad, petrify, and poison at least. Would have made some of the mob and boss encounters more interesting

—Torgal, Joshua, and Jill should have had more party involvement. I don’t necessarily think they should have been playable, but I think having them have visible stats, armor and weapons to equip. Especially when they become permanent. Realistically they could have had it be like how XV was or even the sync system from Rebirth, but that’s probably asking too much.

—speaking of Torgal, the finest hound I’ve ever seen, I think his lore and connection to Fenrir should have been expanded upon. I think that Fenrir should have been an Eikon or close to it and added Fenrir to the ability tree. Maybe even have just 2 sub abilities linked to Shiva’s circle as he is Shiva’s partner.

—a few more secrets to come upon while exploring. Finding something off the beaten path other than just 2gil. Maybe another dungeon akin to Sage Spire. But these are being greedy a little bit maybe haha

And that’s basically it? Maybe that is a lot but I feel it would take it over the edge and make it many people’s favs. Otherwise I’m so content with what we got this was just fun to talk about :)

My ultra-biased, totally subjective Eikon ability tier list

This is NOT based on which abilities are objectively "good" or useful; rather, it is my personal list that suits my own play style.

For reference, I've got about 600 hours of play time, and I've S-ranked most stages on Ultimaniac.

My VERY loose criteria are:

- How much did I use it in a casual playthrough?

- How useful is it in Arcade Mode?

- Am I having fun if my build includes this ability?

The funny thing is that this list would look very different if I made it during my first playthrough. I'm curious to hear how other people would rank abilities when you're being shamelessly subjective!

FF16 gets way more hate than it actually deserves

I genuinely think a lot of the criticism around FF16 became exaggerated after launch.

People act like it’s a terrible Final Fantasy just because it focused more on action combat, but the game gave us:

one of the best OSTs in the series

insane boss fights

an actually mature story

arguably the best voice acting in FF history

Is it perfect? No.

But sometimes it feels like people judge FF16 more harshly just because it tried something different.

Curious if opinions have changed over time or if people still feel the same.

Did they ever fix the PC version's cutscenes being forced to your internal resolution rather than output?

I'm heavily considering double dipping on the PC version since I loved it so much on the PS5 years ago, but I remember the Digital Foundry video covering the PC port noting that if you used DLSS/FSR or some kind of upscaling, the cutscenes rendered at the resolution before upscaling kicked in.

So if you're at 4K and use DLSS performance, the cutscenes rendered at 1080p instead of 4K. Has this been fixed? I can't find any information about it anywhere.

Insane stutters and freezes on my PC, even on lowest settings.

Hey everyone, I recently started the game and the game started of absolutely awesome but the freezes and stutters in areas, in combats and transitions from cutscenes to gameplay absolutely take the enjoyment out of it. I have a 5070 TI and intel Ultra 9 CPU so I dont think those are the problems. Is this a known issue at all and are there any fixes?

Barnabas Tharmr vs Zenos yae Galvus who wins?

I believe Barnabas would win- but like what I was saying- I don't really buy ff14 power scaling-(ignoring context)

Just like Bahumat- Zenos needed a mother crystal to use Shinryu,

Barnabas as shown the ability to power eikons like Jill who fought Hugo, and that clive was able to beat hugo(Lost and normal) while in base form- I don't like to use other feats to compare eikons, cause it makes zero sense but humor me this aight?

Same clive that beat Leviathan, and Shiva egi(Timestop guardian I can't remember his name) Same clive that beat Omega before fighting Barnabas?

Another thing I saw- his furthersight, which is fundamentally useless, Rift slip is space + time manipulation, you can't see what is frozen- if we use clive kit in ff16- then Barnabas can also do that(To a stronger degree)

Another thing is Zenos taking over Barnabas, Eikons in ff16 are nor made out faith, Eikins ff16 are living breathing entity's with souls, If clive can fight off Ultima from claiming his mind, I belive he can do the same thing to Zenos.

Zenos has no defense against Zantetsuken as it deletes matter and cut space, if we use Omega(for now) The darkness element- is spatial manipulation, And we both know Zenos loves taking hits. Zantetsuken(lvl 5) those massive amounts of damage and cut space,

Barnabas significantly gets stronger in Semi-fully prime, and we have not seen a full powered Odin- we fought him in his Base-semi prime form, for christ sake- it could have been a Bahumat 2.0- if Square Enix had budget.

But what's your thoughts?

The ultimate Final Fantasy XVI hunts

Sorry for the image glare there… Manage to find this ultra rare find in my bookstore! bit pricey for a 100 page book but was worth every cent overall!

May want to get back to playing this game on New Game Plus for replay value!

It would be a crime to miss out this item for the collection!

XVI-bit is out!

I made the first pieces of this project two years ago when I started making chiptune covers of FFXVI music in Furnace... After a long, long time, I can finally report that my fangame is live on itch!

This is my first ever dev project and my first solo project. There are a few things that I simply don't have the skillset to realize the way I imagined them, but I'm very happy with how this turned out. I learned so much in the process of making this, and I hope you all enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it.

PS: if people are interested, at some point I can post the SNES chiptune soundtrack I made as well :)

I kinda feel stupid for saying this, but like, I find this game kinda hard. Is this the case with anyone else at all?

My first play through and am I just missing something? Do I just suck now? Maybe I'm just too old or maybe I'm just too stuck in retro games or something, but I find this game really challenging. Specifically the Bahamut battle. It's the first time I got a game over in this game.

Maybe my twitch gaming skills are finally gone. I had the same thing with Black Ops Cold War Zombies until I finally got used to it, but even that is still challenging. Maybe I've finally hit that wall where modern games are just too much for me now or gaming these days is of a different style for me. I guess I'm too far removed.

I recently played Lunar SSS Remastered and that game really brought me back to a better simpler time. I really enjoyed that. I fired up the pixel remaster of FFIV and loved that too.

Any way, I really love FFXVI but NG+ FF mode kinda seems really daunting to me now and sorta makes me want to stop playing. I love a good challenge but I think I'm just past my prime now. Any way, I think is my yelling at the clouds moment.

Thanks for reading.

Anyone knows solutions for PC crashes?

Does anyone know a solution for the crashes? After every boss and cinematic, the game just crashes randomly and I gotta play it all over again. I am enjoying the game, it's great and nice story, but the constant crashes are exhausting.

I made some research and I've found nothing that works, so this is my last hope.

GUYS IM NOT OKAY, I JUST FINISHED THE GAME

I feel so bad right now. This game made me sob like just a few games have made me.

Its so bitter the final. I was hoping to see Clive returning with Jill and live their lifes together. But, making Clive erase all magic in the world and then making him die, was like a punch in the stomach.

Watching his hand turning stone was so fuckin painful, and honestly I just wanna cry right now.

And that escene with Joshua's book was like putting salt in the wound.

I played the shit out of FFXVI a year ago and I think it is time again…

I remember that FFXVI was my favourite game of all time when I played it for a first time. Same goes for Clive. This game was so incredibly good that I had a LOT of moments where my jaw just dropped. Ending had me crying too, it was so sad it’s hard to find a game that has such a sad ending like FFXVI. Also played both dlc’s immediately when I had the chance to buy them. FFXVI is not my favourite game of all time anymore but it’s still in my Top 5 and same goes for Clive. I just love him and his companions so much!!

Glad to be back!!
