"Fast-paced role" and "no two days are the same"

Why is every job ad like this? It sounds miserable. All that tells me is you're going to be overworked and doing the job of 3 people. Yet, they all say it like it's a good thing. Been like this for as long as I can remember...

PSA: Tangerine ISP takes quite a while to connect

Just a bit of a PSA in regards to Tangerine:

Due to the constant increase in pricing and cost of living, I've been churning providers every 6 months in recent years. My usual go-to is ABB because of their reliability and service, but because they're $99 now I've made the switch to Tangerine ($64) for the same 500/50 plan.

It's too early to comment on their reliability yet, but it did take a fair bit longer than expected to get connected, 10.5 hours in fact. Usually when I'm churning, it's a fairly painless swap over during the night and I barely notice. But for whatever reason, Tangerine took ages. I got the email at 12:15am that the order had gone through, my ABB service was disconnected at this point, and it wasn't until 10:45am that I finally got the 'your service is ready' email.

I WFH, so I've had to use my hotspot all morning while waiting. Just wanted to give others a heads up if you're considering switching to them.

Stan still running 480p in 2026 lol

What is this sh*t? How is it even remotely acceptable that Stan is STILL running standard definition 480p on their basic plan in 2026? In a world where we have 1080p, 4k, hell even 8k... I mean, 1080p became the standard like what, 16 years ago? Anything less than 1080p nowadays is taking the piss... c'mon now

LG appliances are absolutely trash

When we decked out our new place a few years ago, I did extensive research on every appliance, and LG consistently ranked highly. Really great reviews. We bought an LG OLED tv, LG microwave, LG fridge, it's all LG. And now a few short years later - I regret it. I've had nothing but problems.

Within the space of the last 12 months:

  1. Our $5000 C1 OLED tv stopped working. Power supply needed replacing and a 3rd party tech has to come take our only tv in the whole house away and we were left with nothing for a couple of weeks.
  2. Our $1200 fridge/freezer stopped working in the middle of the night. Woke up to chicken juice seeping out on to the floor from the freezer. The compressor needed replacing, but of course the 3rd party tech didn't have the part so they had to order it in. Again, we were without a fridge for a couple of weeks, and lost about $500 worth of groceries. The fridge and freezer were packed with meal prepped stuff that we had been stocking up, because we literally just had a baby about 2 weeks prior to the fridge breaking down.
  3. The same fridge just broke a 2nd time, three months later. We finally re-stocked the fridge slowly over those last 3 months, and again lost about $500 worth of groceries. It also broken down again at night, just before the weekend, so nothing could be done for days at least. We ended up just going and buying a new fridge that day because we don't trust LG at all now.

Each time with the fridge, we reached out to LG for compensation on the food loss. The first time, we spent HOURS compiling what receipts we had and a itemised list. We sent through the claim for close to $500 worth.....about a month later we get a credit for only $150. The second time, again we did the same thing, but don't physically have receipts for every single grocery bill. Like who the f keeps their grocery receipts 'just in case the fridge breaks down'?

Honestly, f**k LG. Sh**ty products and sh**ty service.
